I wanted to have some tool that would put many protruding screwheads inside wood. I had a countersink bit in my screwbit kit and between searches came to know that is for this purpose.It did the job but using it was a pain the neck.Then tried a spade bit which true to its name dug a hole which wasn't round by any stretch of imagination. It appeared vibratory in hands, and appeared that it may damage wood/drill bit or even the drill machine.Then I came through this Bosch flat bit.Indeed very costly for a home user but hopefully may use it optimally in times to come.It makes a round enough hole with my inexpensive drill machine, with very little effort since it has sturdy screw threads at its tip.Very well thought of bit.

I am a tradesman and have just bought three of these bits. I wish I hadn't. Once the pilot thread bites it pulls the drill bit through rapidly. You have little control over this and the result is a messily cut hole. I have been using it to fit door locks and cant get a clean cut hole. It rapidly rips it's way through the door and rips the laminated surface of the door. Although not disastrous it made me look like an amateur rather than a craftsman. I wont be using them again for anything that need finesse or accuracy. They are excellent for speed but this isn't what I need. I take pride in my workmanship.I certainly wouldn't buy them again.
