I ordered this ice maker from Amazon at Christmas for ...
I ordered this ice maker from Amazon at Christmas for my husband for camping. We did not attempt to test it out until late spring/early summer. This unit did not make one single ice cube. After many emails back and forth to manufacturer, we were told to ship unit back to them at our cost. We will be doing that this week, but this is not what we had hoped for. Buyer beware.

Great if you don't have an ice maker or need to make some quickly
This ice maker claims to make 33 pounds of bullet-shaped ice cubes in 24 hours. I set it on medium and it made several batches of 9 pieces about the size of your finger from the last knuckle (but hollow) in less than 10 minutes each. Here are some observations:- The feet are black rubber and will MARK UP your counter top if it is white or a light color. It can be removed but not without some scrubbing and cleaning solution.- The unit has a very strong plastic and rubber odor. No idea how long it will take before that is gone.- The ice pieces are smaller than those made in the refrigerator ice maker or cube trays plus they are hollow due to being frozen water over the stubby, short freezing bars.- While it makes a batch in about 10 or 15 minutes it's less than half what you would get in an ice tray.- The unit is huge, compare it to at about half the size of a small refrigerator. It takes up a lot of counter space.- It does not keep the ice frozen once it's made. From the manual: "NOTE: The ice basket does not keep the ice cubes frozen. The ice in the basket will slowly melt and the water will drip to the water reservoir and reused."I doubt you could make a full batch as the stored ice melts which could create a recursive process of making ice over and over but not adding any more ice.- The manual has some issues with missing steps and mismarked diagrams. Could be preliminary but is printed on shiny finish paper.Overall, if you need an ice maker this does a great job. It makes ice quickly and can make a lot. It would be great for parties and festivities.

It worked fine for about 20 months
I bought this item in June 2015. It worked fine for about 20 months, and then quit. If I plug it in now I hear a grinding sound from it, and it does nothing. The warranty was only 12 months, but I did expect it to last longer than it did at this price. I might also note that the fan was somewhat noisy when the item was working.

Mixed Feelings
I'm really torn on this review. This is a nice, hard-working little appliance. But, it's not quite what I expected.1) The bullet shaped ice cubes were bigger than I expected. I prefer tiny ice, and I was thinking of smaller bullets. These are fine - just not what I expected.2) The only spot really geared toward keeping the ice at freezing temps is the freezing tray itself. Why is this relevant? Well, when you read, "Makes 33 lbs of bullet-shaped ice cubes in 24 hours" and then see, just below that, "Stores up to 2.2 lbs of ice," something becomes very clear. If you want to accumulate 33 lbs of ice in preparation for a party or event, you're going to have to dump the full ice bin every couple of hours. Here's the issue: Once the ice is dumped into the receiving tray, it's kept cold, but not cold enough to stay frozen. It immediately begins the melting/recycling process. As a result, if you wait until the ice tray is full before you dump it to prepare for a new batch, then you store that ice in the freezer, it will all stick together. Ice pick necessary.3) Finally, a cosmetic preference. There is an included scoop, which is great. But, there is no storage spot for it. There's enough room to put a little storage receptacle on the lid (I'd give up the window!), but it's just not there. Consequently, the scoop must either rest in the ice or be kept outside the ice maker. Now, I rated this "okay" rather than not liking it, so there must be some good qualities, right? Of course!1) It is quick. I love that. You really will get 33 lbs of ice in 24 hours if you keep it dumped. Great for party prep, camper use, or for a situation in which you lack an ice maker in the freezer.2) It does recycle the water. Want to keep that try of ice full, but don't want to have to empty it out every time it fills up? No problem! Just keep the appliance running, and when the ice melts enough to be below the full tray capacity, it will automatically restart and keep your tray full. And, if you use it regularly, you just have to worry about making sure you keep enough water in it for constant ice making.3) It's separate from the freezer! So, if you don't have "ice in the door," this is a great solution for making sure that your freezer door doesn't get opened constantly. especially during the hot summer. Also great for the pool shed and such. If you have the space, it's a great appliance to have around.Bottom line: This is going to be a handy appliance to have, especially as our summer heats up quickly. But, as is obvious from my review heading, this was a Vine review product. I'm not 100% sure this is the one I'd buy were I to actually shop and pay for one.
