This thing is S H A R P!!!! But is works perfectly!
All I will say is BUY. The. GLOVES! This is the sharpest piece of equipment I have EVER used. DON'T try to slice a potato without cutting it in half first! :-)

Wish it cut Thicker.
I love this Wietus V blade slicer. It makes food-prep fast and fun. Easy to set up; and easy to clean. The "V" blade works so much better than my old single-slanted blade. The grip cup improves efficiency and safety. Well built and ergonomic. However, I have just one complaint. It doesn't slice squash quite thick enough for my Southern fried recipe. I would gladly trade a juliene insert for an extra 1/16th inch of thickness. That might sound petty; but around here we like squash battered and fried like fish or chicken. If the squash is too thin, it gets overwhelmed by the coating. And, some folks might prefer their tomatoes a bit thicker. Otherwise, this is a 5 star device. Here's a lesson learned the hard way: Do NOT try to assemble this device in a manner that negates the specified thickness of the insert panels. And, ALWAYS use the grip cup. The business end of that sharp blade is closer to your finger tips than it appears. So says the guy who purchased steel slicing gloves a day late.

Great instrument to have in the kitchen
This instrument is quickly becoming one of my favorites! I don't always feel like chopping or slicing with my knife and with the mandolin I can just do it seamlessly and everything is uniform. I am a hobby chef. I'm not a professional but when I do things I want them to look good. And this mandolin definitely helps. Just be careful when you're using it because if you're not you could lose a finger or at least a tip of a finger.

slices were uneven
This is solidly built, but I really wanted something that would give me perfectly uniform slices to put in my dehydrator. When I inserted the v shaped piece into the slicer I could see that one side was higher than the other. All of my slices were thinner on one side. Not exactly what I was looking for. It was much better than slicing apples by hand though. However for most things that I need to slice, I will use a knife, or use my 25 yr old salad shooter, which is fast and easy.

Wish there was an option for no stars!
This is NOT the product ordered, not the one represented on the page. This is called a CHOP CHOP! and is a much cheaper, flimsier version of the mandoline advertised. I already own a Weitus V blade and it sliced beautifully and evenly. This mess has ripples and cuts everything unevenly. Useless!

I am a amateur @ cooking right now, just retired, live alone and have taken up cooking, for a hobby, when I was a working stiff, only had time to make sandwiches', came across a few recipes, that suggested, using a Mandolin slicer. I did some research, and was impressed with my purchase. This is one tool, of the kitchen that I don't have to plug in, to a electrical outlet.

Hard to slice carrots with this mandolin
I had a hard time slicing carrots with this mandolin. The carrot kept getting stuck at the point of the v blade, and the slices looked awful (not even). It was easier to slice carrots with a knife. The mandolin did work well on julienne carrots and slicing cucumbers. I did not like the food holder that it came with. The metals points chewed through an apple slice so I couldn't cut it. I am going to try a mandolin with a diagonal blade instead of a v blade.

This is a good basic slicer
This is a good basic slicer, however I wish I had bought one with replaceable cutting blades. Once this blade goes dull, the unit will be unusable. And it is more bulky than I thought, requiring more storage area. I used it to slice zucchini, onions and cucumbers and it sliced better than my hand held one.
