Solid Action as the Squad is Trapped in a Castle with a Bunch of (Other) Psychos
New Suicide Squad seemed to reach a proper conclusion with the previous volume but prior to the Rebirth relaunch we get one last solidly entertaining volume here courtesy of Grayson scribe Tim Seeley. Seeley definitely does well in this volume with the series' dark brand of humor, especially as it pertains to insane but lovable Harley Quinn and Deadshot who once again takes on a stronger leadership role (and is often the straight man to Harley's humor). Deadshot was too often sidelined in the previous New S.Squad titles or crippled by his ongoing struggles with feeling useless so it was nice to see him return to form a bit. The book also reintroduces El Diablo who this series hasn't seen much of since the re-titling as the "New Suicide Squad" (certainly his role in the movie recently helped that). The other major teammate who gets a boost this time is Cheetah who plays the Killer Croc/King Shark role of being the near cannibalistic animal themed psycho. Boomerang shows up later to continue his love/hate bromance with Deadshot and a decent B plot sees Amanda Waller interacting with a potential English counterpart looking to start up England's own version of Task Force X.The main crux of this volume's story is Harley attempting to help her favorite squadmates (and Cheetah) escape Waller's clutches with the aid of a D-List of fellow mercenaries... only for the entire plot to wide up involving the Fist of Cain: a group of psychos who kill for "points." If you haven't read any of Seeley's work on Grayson these guys will feel very out of left field as that's where I have previously seen them show up with a bit more backstory. All in all, it leads to a fun bottle episode as the Squad and their mercenary allies are trapped in a castle fighting for their lives a la The Raid but with costumed flair. The final issue is just one that focuses on Harley and her psyche and is just okay and then we get a fun preview of the Rebirth series.

Nothing special.
Definitely not as good as the previous 3 volumes. Why?1. New characters are introduced with little to no information about them.2. Dialogue sometimes did not match with the art.3. Art was inconsistent various times (example: in some pictures cheeta has a very detailed necklace, next scene she appears she has no necklace, next one she has it again). This volume did flash some goodness in it. The plot is interesting, the dialogue is not that bad, and it is action-packed. Which one should expect from a Suicide Squad comic.Overall, it hurts me to say it but I dont recommend it. There are a lot better action-packed comics if that is what you are looking for. However if you had read the previous 3 volumes like I had and wanted to know the conclusion of this series, its not horrible either.

Squad done right (finally)
Easily the best run of the series since the New 52 reboot! While I enjoyed some stories of The New 52 Suicide Squad, I detested New Suicide Squad as written by Sean Ryan. He could only write 2 characters- Waller and Boomerang. He nearly ruined Deadshot and Harley. When I saw the change in writers I decided to give this series a run. I was not disappointed. The art has a watercolor-noir feel to it and Tim Seeley wrote all the characters very well. Pros and cons-Pros-Gorgeous, warm artStand-alone story meaning no need to read earlier storiesWell-written charactersEngaging narrative with some deft twists and surprisesExplosive actionGood use of humor to keep readers from becoming exhaustedBonus of Suicide Squad Rebirth to transition into current continuity (which has been AWESOME)Cons-Over too soonSean Ryan doing the last issue of the runSeriously, this is hands-down the best of the run since The New 52 and miles above the movie. If you have any interest in this run outside of the classic Ostrander books, this is an excellent pick. This, and the Rebirth compilation The Black Vault. Just avoid the 3 volumes written by Ryan unless you like your Deadshot as a whiny wannabe and your Harley little more than a living sex doll.

Last chapter of the 'new 52' Squad
This is the last edition of the 'New 52' Suicide squad, and as such sets up the group for the 'rebirth' that happened in the middle of last year. I have enjoyed the entire run of suicide squad through the years from 2011 when this iteration started and felt that whilst not spectacular this was a good send of for the era.The art is again the best part of the package with bold colours and great charactor work.I recommend this to those who have been following the new 52, or to those who want to get into rebirth (although i acknowledge that you will find it hard to understand what is going on story wise to start with.
