The Body Image Book for Girls: Love Yourself and Grow Up Fearless : Markey, Charlotte: desertcart.in: Books Review: I love every chapter, and actually learned how to love myself as well as help my GD love herself. I love how they have used quotes from celebrities who children can relate to, its well worth the money and I think all schools should buy a copy and introduce it as part of lessons for all. Review: Reviewing as a professional (dietitian). This book is a wonderful glimpse into what teen-hood is and what it could be instead. Just like any book that deals with sensitive subjects, it's important for parents to read (or at least skim) the text to see what may or may not fit within their specific family values. If the text is a bit advanced in places, then it can serve to spark conversation between parent and child or possibly to educate the parent for later discussion with their child. This is a much-needed breath of fresh air, given in small doses for maximum digestibility.

As a mother to preteens, I’ve searched for many books. This one I came across on the A Mighty Girl page as a recommendation. Were they ever right, it’s a great book. I can’t recommend it enough.

How I wish that I had a guide for my struggle with my own body image as a young girl. As a mother of three daughters, I worked hard at my own messaging but found the forces outside my home to be pervasive and difficult to counter. I purchased this book for my daughter to read with her two young daughters, my granddaughters. I am finding this read to not only be enjoyable with colorful, easy to read anecdotes and answers to questions we have all had but with a sense of relief that through Dr. Markey's exhaustive research on this most important subject matter, we have the tools to raise a whole new generation of fearless girls.
