Great series, gone too soon
First I'll review the show itself, then the Blu-ray package. It took me a couple of episodes to warm up to the show, but by the 5th episode of the first season I was hooked. Patrick, Agustin and Dom are three gay friends living in San Francisco and the show is about them looking for love, fulfillment at work and with their families. It's an ensemble show, but Patrick is definitely the lead. He's sweet, but prone to saying or doing dumb things and he really does grow up a lot in the 2 seasons and the movie. Agustin received a lot of criticism in the first season, as he did dick-ish things, but he could be sweet at times and even though he blew up his relationship, his friends always had his back. Dom is the oldest (he turns 40 in season 1), and is facing middle age without a real career or boyfriend, but he also has strong support from his roommate Doris. The show was cancelled after 2 seasons, but HBO gave us a movie to wrap things up--which it did. With only an hour and half, and wanting to be a movie, not just a couple of episodes strung together, the producers wisely focused almost exclusively on Patrick (I don't think there's a scene he's not in). The movie works on its own, but has amazing callbacks to prior episodes and does wrap things up nicely. The acting is nearly always great, standouts are Jonathan Groff, Raul Castillo, Murray Bartlett and Lauren Weedman, There's also a lot of nice things to look at--both in the handsome guys and in the great background shots of San Francisco. As for the Blu-ray set, nearly every episode has a commentary track, which are always fun and informative. I wish there had been a commentary for the movie and maybe some deleted scenes and/or blooper reel...that's the only negative thing I have to say about the set.A code for a digital download--ultraviolet or iTunes--is included. The show may not be everyone's thing, but I loved it and highly recommend it.

Not happy
I just opened the package for the watching this movie unfortunately I ordered it over a month ago or so, the second disk does not work, I've looked into trying to return this item and it's not returnable and I'm out over $35 I would like a refund on this series. I have purchased and bought many complete series from this company and others and never had any problems with my discs except for once with the movie weeds the complete series one didn't work and they sent me a new one. I don't even want a new set I just want a refund of some kind because it's been difficult trying to make any compromise. And I also found that the description that I received on my phone is completely different than the description I had my daughter look up on her computer. First lady no offense but I would not have ordered this movie I am more than happy to delete this review off this portion of Amazon but I had no other way 2 write my regrets on this purchase.

Great show!
I never caught this on TV but read about it and was happy to find a set that included the two seasons and movie for a good price. I really enjoyed the series and while the episodes are quick and the seasons rather short, I got attached to the characters. The movie does a really good job at tying up the few strings the series didn't. I wish there had been another season or two. Oh well, at least it's in my collection.

"Looking" was Totally "Stiffed" by HBO and Not in a Good Way! But the Show is Dope
I'm so sad that this BEAUTIFUL series was axed after only two seasons and was given one "pity" movie to end it, even with all the promise the show had to offer in further exploration of topics that they barely got to flesh out. Long story short, HBO could have done better by this amazing and much needed show, I do love HBO for giving a show like "Looking" the space and breath to fearlessly express such a strong voice. It was one of the great queer voices we needed and still do on TV. It sucks that it didn't get renewed. But, after all that's said and done it is a excellent 5 disc set though! I HOPE Netflix, Hulu or some smart streaming service can strike a deal with the show's creators and team in the future.

Looking for more.....
I loved this series and movie. Some have claimed it doesn't reflect the real life experiences of gay men; I beg to differ. We are a tremendously diverse lot, and I had no problem believing these stories and characters exist in some corner or other of San Francisco. I didn't want the drama and laughter to end, and I'm left Looking fore more

I loved this show and have since read up on it
I'm late to the game and just got the DVD set. I loved this show and have since read up on it. I wish it had gone on alot longer as was originally intended :( . For me it was a gay sex in the city. Yes, the movie did wrap things up, but I wish Kevin and Patrick had worked it out and I have to tell you, Richie, a gay Mexican moving to Texas is a lot perplexing to me.

A must-buy if you are a fan!
Of course this is a must-buy because I have been a fan of this series. Episodes of second season even have higher bitrates! I just wish Looking wouldn't be cancelled so soon.

IF YOU'RE GAY YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE IT. IF YOU'RE NOT GAY, TAKE MY WORD FOR IT
This review is aimed at gay men. I believe Looking is the most accurate portrayal of North American gay culture I have seen. Brokeback was NOT gay no matter how emotionally wrenching it was for us. QAFUS was more gay, if I can put it that way, but it still for the most part lacked a certain authenticity that Looking does indeed possess. I believe this is because only in Looking are almost all the characters gay in real life. This brings something to their interaction and certainly to their sexual scenes a realism you have to be gay yourself to appreciate. So much of the eroticism, the humour, and the importance of what is happening will most likely go completely over the heads of the straight world. What I am getting at is very difficult to put into words, but it is definitely there. Extra plusses over QAFUS are in Looking there is no homophobia--either having to fight against it-- or internalized homophobia, no bottom shaming (in fact the subject is discussed and firmly rejected), and the guys have fur. One of the characters is a bear, which is nice. (I don't mean Augustin, the otter; the bear, Eddie, shows up in season 2).Just an aside: If you don't speak Spanish you may miss Richie's pet name for Patrick--Pato--Duck, which is cute. There are 5 DVDs. Season 1 on one and 2, Season 2 on three and four, and the fifth DVD is the movie. It is good. No spoiler alerts necessary here: It is basically a reunion of the characters after 9 months. There is some reminiscing, but mostly they continue the story, and it ends just like you want it to!This is a wonderful series. I am so glad I pre-ordered it in order to make sure I got it. And the gay in-jokes are fantastic.

HURRAY for LGBTQ
I loved Andrew Haigh's "Weekend" and this series did not disappoint. The characters were not mere stereotypes and the open opening and ending gave it more realism. The acting was great. I watched it in 3 days (season 1, season 2, movie) but could have easily done it in one if I started earlier. Not a boring part to it. Highly recommend for your LGBTQ film library.

I'm halfway through rewatching this series, it's just as ...
I'm halfway through rewatching this series, it's just as heartfelt and honest as I remembered. The only complaint I have is that the first two discs are the exact same ones that came with the Season 1 Bluray. I wanted season 2 & the movie, but already had season 1 from when it first came out and now I'm stuck with doubles.
