Nice Little Machine
This was cheap enough to try so I took the chance on it. It worked out well. I kept my expectations low and got a machine that works. I don't plan on making a lot with it. If I did, I'd have gotten a better model. But for what I do plan, this little machine will work great. The needles and holding pins are set up just like an Addi Express and give a smoother performance than other low priced machines. My test project with the yarn it came with went smoothly and didn't frustrate me. That was not my experience with a vertical version that moves the needles and the holding pins. That was a nightmare and got returned. This little gem went right into my craft room.

Used?
When I received this, it looks like its been used. When I took it out of the box, a project already started. Although some people commented that a project usually gets started to test if it is working--well, the loom was not working on "plain knit." It gets stuck after two spinning and that is it. When I shifted it to the other knit selection- it spun and was working. But when I saw the final product ("leg warmer")- there were big gaps that it was useless. So to ensure that the thread are knitted tightly, you have to put your hands on those knitting thingies so the thread goes back and forth. This is a think one of my worst purchases.....

Misrepresented item
Received product today, very unhappy that I received an obviously used and returned machine that had a partially started item already on it. No where in the purchase info was it indicated that this machine was previously owned. My Question now will be whether it is defective.

Good choice for the price, NOT wool yarn
I purchased this because it is pretty inexpensive and I wanted something for making quick sock blanks for dyeing. It's a much cheaper option than the Singer kid machine, and obviously much cheaper than the more serious Addi Express machine. It seems to be working well and getting the job done, but I do worry about longevity. Since it is all plastic, I do not know how long the gears are going to hold up, but so far so good. I've used it 3-4 times now and it has worked very well. The instructions aren't the clearest, but with a bit of work you should be able to figure everything out. If it's any help- the two "methods" of knitting the instructions refer to mean that you can knit a tube, or a flat piece (the flat piece is knit by setting the switch to the appropriate setting and then cranking the handle one way until it stops, and then cranking back the other way- and repeating). My only real complaint is that the listing/box claims it comes with 3 small skeins of wool yarn, but this was not true. I first realized this when the yarn refused to hold the dye. Furthermore, when I tried to do a burn test on a piece, it melted instead of snuffed out- obviously it's an acrylic or some other kind of synthetic yarn.I would recommend this if you are looking for something quick, cheap, and dirty to get the job done. Would probably also make a great gift for your crafty little ones. My daughter is only 2 right now, but if my machine lasts for a few more years, I'd be curious to see if she would like using it, too.

My 10 year old daughter got this today for her birthday and is really enjoying it
Wow! i just got this today (only a few hours ago) and already have a 3 foot long scarf! I wanted this for so long and as soon as I got it I took it out of the package. The machine comes with a project already started and i took it off so i could start fresh! I guess I shouldn't have because it was hard to start up again because the directions are kinda hard. I figured out how to do it and now i am knitting like crazy! There are two modes: tube knit and plain knit. So far I have only done the tube knit and I am currently trying to find out more about the regular knit mode! Sometimes the machine can be difficult to crank if the previous stitches are done incorrectly. One thing you can do to prevent this is to make sure you correctly start it off by first going around and threading every OTHER hook. Then after the first go round simply turn the crank to knit the rest. Don't get frustrated because it can take a little while to get the hang of it. I would think any kid around my age would love this toy![This review was written by my 10 year old daughter who is practicing her opinion writing for school. I hope you find this review helpful ]

same but better than the singer
same but better than the singer ....has the dome lid, whereas the singer doesn't. the dome lid makes it easier to hold still while cranking.

NOT HAPPY
When I received this, the item had already been used! Not only that, but a project had been started already and was on the machine! Totally couldn't believe it! I tried to give it a chance and make something but it kept getting stuck and I was afraid to use it because I felt as if the loom would fall apart and break as all its pieces are made out of plastic. If you purchase this: you get what you pay for: a plastic toy that seems geared towards children and not adults.
