Bitten By Witch Fever: Wallpaper & Arsenic in the Nineteenth-Century Home

I watched a video talking about arsenic in Victorian wallpaper. It mentioned this book. When I looked it up, I was instantly hooked. One of my best impulse buys ever. It's worth it for all the wallpaper images, but the text is great, too. The layout of the book is cool, what with the info pamphlets amidst the wallpaper pages. Even the cover texture (mine is hardcover) is satisfying.

Very interesting history & beautiful patterned paper inside

This is way more interesting than I thought it would be. I bought it for all the wall paper samples inside, but it has small informative chapters about arsenic during the Victorian era. All about murders, deaths, health issues, and wall paper.

A fascinating and colorful look at the use of arsenic in everyday products in the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Scrupulously researched, and a delight to read. The color plates of wallpaper samples? What a great idea to include them?

I got this book for my wife. Best trade I ever made.Actually this book is a great read and worth every cent.

Amazing factual account that parallels current use of poisonous materials. Lush reproductions let the reader understand how seductive the products were.

This book is beautifully designed and bound inside images of wallpapers made from arsenic . Text is added with beautiful half pages which really bring the book to life and tell the story of arsenic and it’s uses. The whole book is a work of art, clever and inspiring.

A very nice book. I do hope that the vivid examples don't actually contain arsenic!!!
