It's LOUD.
Got this alarm to warn when power came back on in an interlocked main panel generator setup. Works very well for the task. When power comes back you will know it, the siren can be heard throughout the house. Being in the same room as it is quite literally deafening until you turn it off. Installation is simple. Mount the device near your panel. Run the antenna into the panel and wrap it tightly around one of the hot legs you want to monitor in you panel. Use a zip tie or electrical tape to hold it in place and tightly coiled. There is a sensitivity adjust if needed, but my setup works fine with the default setting.

Very Simple Device to Know When Utility Power Returns When Running a Manual Generator
Very simple solution to use when you have lost power, have a manual generator running and want to know when the utility power has returned (NOTE: if you are not comfortable opening your breaker box, DO NOT attempt to install it yourself). The device runs on batteries and has a low battery indicator. It is a manual device so when i have a power failure and need to run my generator, i will make the switching changes on my electrical panel and then turn on the device while i'm running on my generator. when utility power returns, it blasts out a 100dB alarm that lets me know that it returned. I then turn off the device and switch back to utility power and turn off my generator.

Works as advertised
TL;DR: This product does exactly what it says it does, and does it well. Installation was straight forward, but please have a professional do this if you are not one. A wrong or careless move could kill you. - I drilled a hole through the side of my panel to pull through the sensor leads and grounding wire. - Once those were connected, I sealed the hole with silicone. - The included mounting tape was not thick enough to hold, so I used some better stuff I had on-hand. - The device can slide up off the mount plate to facilitate replacing the AAA batteries. I modified this device to work for my scenario: - This is not an "outdoor rated" constructed device, so who knows how long it will last if your breaker panel is outside of your house like mine is. - The siren is small, but loud. Since I installed this outside, I don't want it waking the neighbors if power is restored in the middle of the night. - I removed the siren and replaced it with a bright LED that I could see from my kitchen window. Is this necessary? Probably not--I could just look for streetlights to come on, or listen for my neighbors' generators to turn off automatically, or check the neighborhood social media page. I still like the idea of a gadget like this and figured, for the price, it would be fun to modify and install.

This thing really works.
This product is just what I needed. So frustrating having to go outside and see if the meter is running in the daytime. Now when the power comes on it will trigger the alarm and I can switch from generator power back to the main utility power. Excellent product!

Finally, a way to tell when the power comes back on
I have a nominally portable (i.e., 300 lb.) 7000 watt generator that I use to keep my well pump, heat, refrigerator, and lights working during power outages. It does not start automatically when power is lost, nor does it shut off automatically when power is restored. Knowing when the generator needs to be started is not a problem since it's obvious when the power goes out, but knowing when to shut it off and switch back to electric company power when it comes back on has always been a different story—until now. This device works great! As others have mentioned, just make sure to wrap the sensor cable tightly around one of the power lines in your main panel, using as many zip ties as necessary to secure it, or it may not be able to detect the return of utility company power.

Be the first to know
We have occasional power outage and before I installed this alarm, I had to wait for a call from the utility company or check the surrounding houses to see if the power came back on. After I installed the alarm, I instantly know when the power is on. The time difference could be hours. The alarm is loud, so I know that I can quickly switch back to shore power. This was also easy to self-install.

Good value, mounts with two screws or double sided tape.
Only comes with one zip tie but you need two to secure both ends of the antenna. Does not include two AA batteries which are required. Using a twin-screw clamp connector is helpful to keep the wire protected as it goes through the knockout.

Works as intended. It's LOUD like a fire alarm. If you are not comfortable working inside an electrical panel you should definitely call an electrician. The installation is not for the average person.

Our power line is 220/240 VAC, 50 hz, while the item operates with 120 VAC, 60 hz

The instructions in the box say that the max voltage is 120V, although this had not been mentioned in the advert. I guess this is for the USA domestic market reasons. However, before returning it, I tried it on our 240V supply (the UK domestic voltage) and it worked fine. It’s easy to mount on the wall with the sticky pads supplied. I would have preferred to use screws but this would have required taking the unit apart to use the backplate holes. Once mounted on the wall, installation is very easy. Overall, a great little unit but the supplier could perhaps clarify in the advert that it works on 240V.

Does what it says on the tin. Easy to install, just wind the sensor wire around your mains line in, connect up the earth and away you go. Nice loud siren to warn you when the mains comes back online. Saves chewing through fuel on your generator for no reason. Quick delivery from the good ol' US of A.
