thick cushion
I purchased this cushion for my adult niece's manual wheelchair. I place it on top of the chair's seat cushion and it fits perfectly. She is still able to put her seat belt on. She only uses it when she goes to see the ophthalmologist (several times a year). Because she is a bit on the petite side (about 4'11" and 105 lbs), the doctor is not able to use one of the machines on her to check her eyes, even when he lowers it as far as it goes. This cushion's 4" have solved that problem. I put it on the wheelchair when she gets out of the car to go to the office and take it off when we get back to the car. Then it's stored in the closet until the next visit.I don't know if the cover is sturdy enough for regular use/daily use. The zipper is good. The insert is firm. It's easy to take the cover off or to remove the board. I like that it has the handles, makes it so easy to carry. So far, the cushion looks like new.I was afraid to use it for a few reasons. First, I thought she would slide off because it has a plastic cover that I thought would be slick; that hasn't happened. Second, I took the board out of it because I thought the stiffness would cause it to be unstable on the chair and cause it to slide off; that hasn't happened. I feel it has a better grip (if that makes sense) on the wheelchair's cushion without the board. Third, there is a little slope from the parking lot to the doctor's office. I was afraid that her body weight and the slope would cause the cushion to slip off the chair; that hasn't happened. My niece says the cushion is comfortable, but keep in mind she's uses it for less than two hours at a time. Her appointments are usually in the mornings when it's cool, even in the summer. She doesn't know what it would feel like in the summer heat.

Firm cushion, provides the advertised amount of height
It's a firm cushion with a sturdy cover. I can't fault the seller for this, but it provides *too much* height for me. I got it for a bit of lift in theater seats, but sitting on this, I stick out noticeably above everyone else. So yeah, maybe don't get this as a seat booster if you're 5 ft or taller.

Nice but hard at first
Hopefully it softens up a little. Otherwise its a nice cushion. I like the handles on the sides.

Works as advertised - good value
This cushion is not primarily for seating comfort but is excellent as an elevation cushion. It is made of low-compression foam; so it does not "give" much when you sit on it. This item is great for people with disabilities who cannot rise from a low seat safely. We use it in our low-sitting automobile and at restaurants where the chairs or booths are too low for my loved one who has to follow hip precautions after a hip replacement. The handles make it easy to carry from the car to the restaurant while assisting a disabled person. It doesn't sit quite flat in the bucket seats in our car; but fits well enough to serve its purpose. The price was right and it does what we expected. I gave it low scores for softness and average for comfort; but given its purpose, that does not mean I consider poor quality. We've used in on two-hour car trips without significant discomfort.

Hard as a rock
This is true to size and well made but the cushion is more than firm, it is hard as a rock. The foam didn't give in at all for my husband who is 200 lbs even when the interior board was removed so it is very uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time. It was used for additional cushion and support in a wheelchair. And non-returnable unless damaged. Wasn't a good purchase for me.

Poorly designed Duro-Med Wheelchair Pad could have been a contender.
This seemed like the answer to my prayers. I wanted a secure pad with a leather cover that wouldn't sag with enough foam to keep the pad from sliding out the gap between the back rest and the seat. The Duro-Med Deluxe Wheelchair Cushion seemed to meet my needs with the addition of two healthy handles, one on each side, that made the cushion portable and useful as a riser in other chairs. The cushion has a smooth wood base tucked inside the leatherette cover. That base keeps the pad from sinking into the sagging wheelchair seat. For those who don't want that ultrafirm feeling, a quick unzip and sliding the base out resolves that. Here's the reason for my three star rating, the leatherette cover does not breathe. Sitting on that cushion for even ten minutes creates a sweaty mess. The backside of my slacks are soaked and the cushion gets wet and slippery. The heat the cushion generates is surprising. So, imagine having a damp situation and the pad slides out through the gap mentioned above. Sure, tying the pad to the chair would prevent the slipping issue but why bother unless you want to grow mushrooms. It's a nice looking pad with enough foam inside to keep it from compressing or wimping out. Had the manufacturer decided to use a sturdy breathable and washable fabric as the cover this could become five star in a red hot minute. As things stand, I couldn't recommend this pad to fellow shoppers much less my friends and family.

Excellent
This is a stiff, 4” pad that fits perfect on my chair. It is a true booster, does not sag! I almost did not buy it because I read a review that it caused a gentleman to sweat…. But, I took off my original cushion, placed adhesive Velcro strips to the booster. The Velcro on the bottom holds to the chair and the Velcro on the top holds my original thinner cushion. Works great! So happy because it gives me more leg room.

So helpful!!! 5 stars
I purchased this for my 93 yr old father who is unfortunately quickly declining in mobility. We use this for his transport wheelchair to make it easier to get in and out of. (He actually wouldn't be able to get out of it at all without this cushion.)I thought it was a bit small initially, but it's actually the perfect size for using in a wheelchair. (Any larger and it wouldn't have fit.)It's well made and made with high density foam which means he doesn't sink down when he's sitting on it. (He's only sitting on it for relatively short periods of time so it's not a big deal that it's on the harder size, but if you had to use it for longer periods you would want to put a softer cushion on top of it. And my parents have actually started to use this on an outdoor chair on their balcony, and that' what they've done - added a softer cushion on top of it.)It's handy that it has a handle on it. It also has a zipper, but in all honesty it isn't necessary as I don't see why you'd need it. It's a faux pleather material which wipes down easily. It's not necessary to remove the cover for washing or anything.Bottom line is that when you or your parents needs a rigid foam cushion to make it easier to get in and out of lower seats, one of these is definitely a necessity.(Was very happy that I found this on amazon! Made my life easier as I didn't have to call all over and then drive across town to find one of these! Thanks again amazon!)

Cannot justify price tag
Decent cushion - but can't justify the hefty price tag of £30 - it's a very basic product which should not cost more than £10.

Worth the money.
This is a solid cushion and well worth the money paid for it. It gives a serious boost in height from even a lower office chair. And it holds up even under heavy weight (220 lbs/100 kg): It gets crushed after a few hours of sitting, but it always regains its shape after one gets up and gives it room to breathe. I can imagine it would help disabled people in wheelchairs quite a bit.
