worth hunting down
Having only recently got a hold of the 'Sheep' album, after a long wait, I was very pleased to hear that it matched my expectations.Being a big fan of Lucio Battisti, I was looking to branch out into the work of other folk-ish singer/songwriters from Italy in that 70s period, and Francesco's self titled album, while often more sedate than much of Lucio's work, has still been tough to switch off. I keep coming back to it - and I do need to spend more time with it, but seeing that it had no review, I thought I'd put down some initial thoughts that might help anyone thinking about buying this one.There are some real stand outs - for me 'Giorno Di Pioggia' & 'Niente Da Capire' alone are worth the price. Great production with mostly soothing songs dominating a strong collection with the occasional darker or somber moment - 'Bene' especially is haunting.I wish I understood the lyrics, because what I've read about them is quite interesting, but this has not stopped me enjoying the songs - never has and I doubt it ever will, but I know I'm missing additional layers of meaning. Which brings me to a mention that some songs do seem weighed down by, for lack of a better word, busy vocal lines. This may, of course, be due to my inability to understand Italian.In any event, I do recommend this to anyone who is a fan of 70s Italian folk, especially the more obscure stuff. Really happy that I finally have this one!

Un disco da riscoprire
La piacevolezza del vecchio vinile per uno dei dischi meno conosciuti del Principe, e tuttavia decisamente da riascoltare e riscoprire, lasciandosi sedurre dalle emozioni che sanno suscitare pezzi come “Bene”, “Giorno di pioggia”, “Souvenir” e così via, sempre tenendo presente che non c’è “niente da capire”, ma molto da sentire.
