The kids had FUN and really used their imagination
I created a class plan for a group of children with the average age being 8 years old and used this book as my primary resource. The children had such a great time playing these yoga games and digging deep into their imagination and creative side. I do not think the purpose of this book is to provide yoga theory and indept poses, but instead to suggest fun games that provide centering, focus and yoga theory based activities. This book can be used if you have no experience with yoga, but having an understanding of yoga works well so you can modify these games into a deeper yoga experience. The children especially liked the game of pretending to be different animals and make sounds. We were able to incorporate lion pose, cobra pose and others. During that game one of the boys wanted to be a super hero. so we were able to do superman pose(lying on belly lifting legs and arms as if you were flying like superman and then making left and right turns through movement of our spines and arms.) and invent a spiderman pose(superman pose and adding movements with arms as if we were shooting webs) These are not in the book but if you have a background in yoga you can expand the games into more yoga based poses. I think its a great book!

A must for kid yoga teachers!
A really great resource for teaching kids yoga. I've used this book dozens of times. Great games for all ages and levels of (younger) kids, maybe not preteens or advanced kids. Sometimes, you have a little too much time in a class and this book is good to pull out and do the mediation exercizes, or a quick fun game. A wonderful supplement. I've been using it for years.

Valuable Kid Resource
This is a great resource for not only Yoga instructors but for Mom's who are looking for a few quick ideas to buy some time. I use it these games not only with my students in my Kid's Yoga class but at home when I need to get the dishes done and my son wants to go go go before I am ready. He loves these games, and my students love them as a nice little change of pace.

Not much to do about yoga
If you are looking for a book to introduce children to yoga asana and yoga theory, this one probably isn't the best choice. The poses are few, and are fairly simple; too simple for elementary children. The strength of the book lies in the group activities and games. The group lessons lean more toward team and trust -building, which would be great in a classroom, church group or camp. As a children's yoga teacher, I was disappointed in the actual yoga content, but I'll keep it as a reference in case I need a filler activity.

Good book for yoga teachers, parents and teachers.
I'm a children's yoga teacher and there are a lot of great class ideas here. Know that much of the content is not really games... the title is a misnomer. But it is a very good, helpful book.

great games and variations on sun salutation
The book has great games to intertwine with the regular practice and make it more fun. When children lose interest in just the regular poses, these games can help break the regularity and also help children work together. I particularly love the sun salutation. The children love the twirling and stomping. I recommend this book to yoga teachers or mom's that have a regular practice with their children and want to break it up a little.

Good information and layout
This book was exactly what I needed. I teach Kids Yoga and was looking for some new things to do. I really like how it is broken up between age groups and the book is organized well. I have used a few of the games already in my class.Thank YouKaren

LuluYoga Games for Children: Fun and Fitness with Postures, Movements and Breath (SmartFun Activity Books)
I found this book helpful and used it often in my practice with kids. Games are outlined with all mateials needed, the time the activity will take and what the outcome will be. I found the kids enjoyed the games we played in class.

Great resource in the classroom
This book has proved invaluable in providing advice and ideas on how I can use yoga with my primary class. As someone who enjoys yoga already, I was keen to introduce my class to it, but a little unsure as to how to make it child-friendly and, importantly, child-safe. This book introduces yoga through fun and engaging games, even the boys were enthusiastic. Similar types of activities are grouped into sections with each activity clearly explained using useful icons to let you know which age group it is suitable for; if props or a lot of space are required; and how long it will take. The introduction gives really practical advice on doing yoga with children and how to put together your own sessions - although there are some themed sessions included to get you started.Overall, it's well written by people who obviously know what they're talking about - highly recommended!
