Arming your boy for a successful life in Christ
I just got my book and had a quick read before giving it to my 10 year old son. He studies on an English based curriculum in Hong Kong but also learns two other languages (Korean, Chinese) simultaneously so can be slightly slower than US based kids on English reading. On that standard, the English in the book is average to easy. But the lessons will require some level of maturity or self reflection. Definitely 10+ in my view.I feel the book is solid in terms of the areas of life that it's trying to bring awareness on, plus the biblical lessons its trying to share for each of those life areas. Quite happy with these. It's loosely based on a fictional boy's story to make it feel less like a book of rules. I'm keen and curious to see how my boy actually finds the book and its delivery. I think this can depend on the reader but in any case it's pretty relatable for the age group, so can easily be used as a read together instead as well.I recently got him a number of books on puberty, sexuality, and investment etc. I'm glad I got this together with the package.

Great as a family devotional time also!
I rarely give 5 star reviews, but this series is great!I started both of my boys (15 & 12) on this study. I will move my older son on to the next series, “A young man after God’s Heart”, while my younger will wait a little while to move on to the next series. We actually did this study together as a family. It helped keep us in God’s word together as a family and as the Bible says....Proverbs 27:17, “IRON SHARPENS IRON”. There are studies for men, women, and for different aged boys and girls. I even bought the girls series for my 11 year old niece. I wouldn’t start them any earlier than 4th grade. For maturity purposes and retaining what they learn. I do believe there is a devotional/storybook form for preschoolers and early elementary ages.

Not really for younger boys but a really solid book
I like this book in the respect of I like the concepts and it teaching boys how to depend on the Lord and an importance on growing in their faith. But after reading it myself, even though my sons are mature for their ages and read well, some of the phrasing can be difficult for younger boys to understand. A few times in the book it seems as if it may have been written for 13 and above. But overall my voice get the basic premise of the book. If you are looking for something for your son in the age range of 6 to 9, I would explore something else by this author or another.

Very well written book
I used this book for 10 yr old boys class at our inner city mission. The boys enjoyed it and I enjoyed teaching it and it also aids in bringing up other discussions.

great devotional for older boys or younger with some help
I am reading this book aloud to my 5 year old son. Although not all of the concepts are understood by him, it is an excellent devotion on what it means to follow God as a little boy. We have had some great discussions on what it means to follow Jesus and to live in obedience. Great discussion starters included as well as questions about the scriptures. Reading this book and Girl After God's Own Heart I was a bit bored in the sense that they are both almost the same text with small changes. I would love to see more focus on the specific struggles of boys and girls.**Thanks to Harvest House and Netgalley for a review copy.**

Great Lessons - Highly Recommend
My 10 year old son is doing a bible study over the summer with some of his friends from school -- this book is perfect. It has chapters on school, friends, parents, etc. I highly recommend. Each chapter is just long enough to really have a lesson but no so long he loses interest. He is able to do the study on his own which I love because he learns so much more if I'm not answering for him. The topics are right on his level but would work for a little younger or older as well.

A boy after God’s heart
A very good book with activities to help build the faith of a child, too good for that price. It helps a child grow a relationship with God that lasts a lifetime. I recommend it for every home. I bought the girl’s copy for my teenage daughter several years back and she still relish the experience.

A great book to use for study with children
Pitched at a great level for my 10 year old. I didn't realise i had clicked to buy a second hand one which had already been written in by someone else. Now ordering a new one so my son can write his own responses in.
