After searching for a good while to find a bottomless portafilter suitable for the Swan Retro - and after seeing so many debunked as incompatible in the customer comments - I found this one, which is advertised clearly as being suitable for the Retro, and took the plunge...I, like many, am quite used to getting Prime Next Day on everything these days so having to wait between 2 to 3 weeks for my order to be shipped out from China was a tortuous wait as I filled the time gradually destroying the stock pressurised portafilters provided with the Retro in a bid to modify them to be as close to unpressurised as possible.I was pleasantly surprised when the kit finally arrived. The portafilters fits and works perfectly, the rosewood handle has a lovely solid and weighty feel to it and the silicon tamping mat is very useful for resting the portafilter upon when dosing.I haven't really used the brushes much but considering the small difference in price between the portafilter on its own and the kit, it's a no brainer really.Overall, very impressed and glad that I took the plunge and survived the wait - even if my poor stock portafilter may not have!

For those of you that have the swan retro espresso machine this portafilter fits it perfectly and it's got a deeper basket for you to put more coffee in it. It is made of good solid materials, with a basket that locks into place and does not fall out , the spouts work well, although I found I can no longer get the scales and cup under it now but that's no problem really. all in all a very good solid portafilter that came in a nice presented box , the wooden handle unscrews, I'm sure this is so you can clean the portafilter . It's appearance looks premium and is 3 times the weight of the original and very easy to use , really good value for money.Highly recommended.

Very impressive quality all around

Great product. Fits my Morphy Richards machine better than the original. Premium feel with both the metal parts and the wooden handle. The shorter size is ideal for a smaller kitchen. And the taste with the unpressurised basket is a definite improvement.

I did not know it is bottom less .

The flaw is that the bottom of the basket is a bit narrower than the top. If it is only half filled the ground cannot be tampered completely because they cannot be pressed all the way to the bottom. Otherwise it is a good fit for my Breville bijou machine.

Bought it for my Swan Nordic! It arrived 8 days early. It did spit everywhere on first use but that was because of my puck prep, best upgrade i’ve done to my machine!!
