Project A-ko

I'm ecstatic that the film print of the movie was found after all these years and that the 4x3 version is included. The extras are also a great addition to the package.However, it's understandable to be disappointed about the transfer being only 1080p and the presence of visible dust. While it would have been ideal to have a higher resolution and a cleaner transfer, it's still a valuable find considering the film's history and the rarity of the 4x3 version.

This blue ray came packed with extras, interviews, special commercials, and more. It even came in both 16:9 and 4:3 ratio videos. I couldn't help but feel nostalgic about this anime. It was the first movie anime I saw back when I was in JR High in the late 90's. Have I seen anime before, sure! But this movie propelled me to watch so much more anime. And to think, there's more than this movie! I can't recall how many more movies but it's definitely more than 5 Project A-ko movies. I can't wait to get them all! Part two just came out before the end of August 2022!

I used to watch this am when I was 16 and remember my first dvd being incredibly distorted, later on I got the remastered full screen DVD which added a lot of color but cut the edges. Here in this Blu-ray you have a perfect clear transfer of the widescreen with normal color temp, no over saturation like the DVD. There are very few (I counted 3) filming artifacts (white mist/distortion from cell photography). There is classic film grain so it makes it look like the theater, which is a good thing. The sound in Japanese is crystal clear while the English dub is a bit more muted. Overall this is probably Discotech’s best work. A classic restored to perfection and a must own for anyone into anime. Very satisfied.

This is the anime movie that sealed my anime fandom in 1996. This will always have a place in my heart even though it might not appeal to newer fans of the medium. It's worth checking out if you are a serious fan of anime.The restoration itself is pretty well done, As others have said, it offers both a 4:3 and widescreen option. The colors and lines are well-defined and crisp. The bonus features are collected from a variety of older releases and a welcome addition. I am really happy with what DiscoTek Media has done from the original 35mm negatives and I hope that they eventually release the other movies in the series to do it justice.

THE movie that made me fall in love with anime has now been restored to perfection. The image is crisp and glorious and the extras are extensive. I didn't even know that there was a planned release for a MACOS video game. Now, you have your choices, as you can flip between the widescreen version, the 4:3 version, Japanese or English audio track, director commentary, J-Actress commentary, specials on the making of the music ... if it had something to do with Project A-Ko, it's probably on this disc.

This is the best Project A-ko has looked since it probably did back when it opened in Japan. Stateside we've never seen it look this good. The price is good, the special features are pretty much the same in the DVD set, so what are you waiting for? Buy it now before B-ko destroys your school.

One of the first anime I ever watched. I miss the 80s art style they used. Dubbing is extremely good for the time period as it was normally done by Japanese anime enthusiasts at the time.

Once thought lost in a studio fire, this is a true blu ray remaster of the original film and looks so very good. It has both the original Japanese language track and the original English dub.

The bonus features were unexpectedly awesome.

Project Ako is a classic 80's anime with some of the best pre-Akira cel animation. The design work is consistently bright and colourful, the action smooth and fluid but... it's very, very eighties. From the fashions to the character designs, this movie is very much a product of it's era.That's not to say that Project Ako is in any way a bad film; I personally love this era of anime and Ako is a great example of it. Added to this is the fact that this is the first ever true HD remaster of it from the recently recovered film masters.For a project that started off as part of the pornographic "Cream Lemon" series, (before the producers realised that they had something with a much broader appeal on their hands), Project Ako is surprisingly suitable for viewers of all ages. Some of the gags might go over the heads of those who are new to anime (e.g. -ko is a common suffix for Japanese female names, so when a show is being produced with one or more run-of-the-mill girls in it, the production staff often used to refer to them as A-ko, B-ko, C-ko etc.), but Project Ako is still tons of fun. This is helped by a brilliant English dub as well.NB: This is a region A Blu-ray, I had to watch it with a multi-region player to view it in Australia.

副音声解説が懐かしさ満載でした。監督さんの時代を振り返りながらの解説も、声優さんたちの振り返りも楽しさ満載で、何度も見返してしまいました。作品内容は破天荒なので、今となっては見る人を選んでしまうでしょうが、50歳を過ぎた人間にはこれがとても楽しいのです。画質もきれいで、発売元には本当に感謝しております。ありがとうございました。

タイトル『プロジェクトA子（劇場版）』ディスク1枚/1話/16:9&4:3（2パターン）/1080p一般的な国内プレイヤーで再生出来ます（再生環境/SONYの2015年～の最廉価プレイヤー『BDP-S1500』）。タイトルで日本語音声と字幕《OFF》を選択すると、後は普通に鑑賞する事が出来ます。なお、序盤の宇宙のシーンはオリジナル自体が英語音声なので、日本語を選択しても英語のまんまですので、その点はお忘れなきように。北米版DVDも持っていますが、今回のHD化によって一気に画質は良くなりました。何と言いますか、画質に関しては上を見出したらキリが無いので、一回り以上画質が向上しただけで良しとすべきです。映像特典は、テンコ盛り過ぎて書き切れません。インタビュー、CM、NG集、ミュージッククリップ・ギャラリー等、軽～く40個ぐらい項目があります。サービスシーンと、当時のアニメの趣味の部分を凝縮して結晶化させたようなSFギャグ作品。既に北米版DVDのレビューで語りつくしたので多くは書きませんが、無駄に哲学的な作品だったり、奥深い設定と理屈・理論だらけの作品に飽き飽きな方は、本作を鑑賞してみてはいかがでしょう。A子は強くてパンチラサービス、B子は悪玉お嬢で部下をはべらせる、C子は天然お姫様で物語の軸。そして、動きまくる趣味全開のSF科学兵器群のバトル～～～!!それ以上でもそれ以下でもない作品、それが『プロジェクトA子』です!!
