The Street Art Stencil Book Paperback – September 8, 2010

If you are looking for a book on street art, or something about stenciling, this is not the book for you. But if you are looking for a book that has some really cool stencils you can use for your own purposes, this is a great buy. In art stores, unique stencils go for $10 a piece, this book has 20 of them. I have been using them to create my own clothing with great results. My only gripe, the stencils are made out of cardboard, and tend to warp after repeat usings. They also tend to warp with heavier paint. But, hey, for the price, I'll just buy another book. A great buy for the artist within you!

I found it to be interesting to get some history on the so called "founder of stencil art", the Paris-based artist Blek Le Rat. There are some nice examples of street art on a variety of diverse themes - some cute, some edgy, some scary. There's lots of background information on street art and artists too if people are interested in the subject.The stencils are interesting and some are very intricate. The only downside is that the stencils are cardboard, not plastic, so they might not be very durable.

I ordered this because of the stencils, but they were all missing. No point I keeping the book. Very disappointed.

Very nice book.....perfect stencils BUT the stencils inside are from thick paper.....for 1-2 uses after that...maybe there going to destroyed !!!THANKS AMAZON.....you where FAST......!!!!AND INSIDE VERY SAFETY BOXES ARRIVED @ MY HOUSE

Great stencils but be carful when removing

ok book i guess.. I purchased this book thinking it was another stencil art book that I had my eyes on at blicks art store. I end up going back to blicks and picking up the copy I actually wanted. One sample page would have helped greatly since there are sooo many of these type of "street art stencil books" Btw the designs in this book are kinda bland n simple minus one or two. I highly recommend Stencil Republic; very intricate designs that will inspired you to create your own...not using the frail stencils in the actual book.

This book is what i expected based on the description. Features kool artist and lets you learn how to create your own stencil.

I found this book to be great value for money.The instructions were clear and concise, easy enough for a beginner like me to follow.I would recommend purchasing this book.

Street Art is our art, out there in front of us and free. Free not only in terms of monetary consideration but, and more importantly, in terms of this art form of today, it is free flowing, imaginative, highly colourful and bold, not being constrained by conventions or other limitations to artistic creativity. And it is fun which is much more than can be said about the vast majority of art galleries and the like.This book is a very helpful aid to allowing everyone to experiment with and hopefully become practitioners of this most important and highly relevant art form.
