5 STARS!! LOVED IT!! Swoon-worthy, sexy single dad + smart & sassy nanny = a top favorite of the year!
I’ve been singing Lauren Blakely’s praises through the last three books of hers (Big Rock, Mister O and Well Hung) that I’ve read. This author is a romantic comedy genius, and what she does to bring a male character to life in her books is incredible. No one, at least no other author that I’ve read, has been able to get into the mind of a male character in quite the same way that Blakely does. I don’t know how she’s able to portray these heroes the way that she does, and I don’t care. I’m just rejoicing in the fact that she can and she does.“…it’s time to get my head on straight and lasso my heart to keep it in check.”Both Simon and Abby are deeply attracted to each other, but for their own reasons, each is keeping it to themselves. They’re both operating under the assumption that their attraction to the other is unrequited, one-sided and inappropriate. The thing is that they’re both so drawn to each other, their attempts at distance and professionalism are just not working. I absolutely loved watching them dance around each other and their white-hot attraction to each other. It was fun, it was flirty, it was sexy, and this type of back-and-forth, the will-they-or-won’t-they dance they were doing is exactly why I am a devotee of the romance genre.“I might want her, but I sure as hell can’t have her.”Simon adores everything about Abby; he’s totally smitten. She’s smart, she’s phenomenal with his daughter, and she’s sexy. The more he gets to know her, the more he’s realizing that she is everything he wants. The problem is that he doesn’t want to jeopardize the role she plays in his daughter’s life as her nanny. That, and he doesn’t want to become the clichéd single dad who is lusting after the nanny. I must say, though, I adored being in Simon’s head as he pined for Abby. His thoughts, his feelings, his crush on her, it’s the stuff giddy, breathless, heart-pounding romances are made of.“Must. Reign. In. Desire. To. Launch. Self. At. Simon.”Abby has been lusting after Simon since the very beginning of her employment. The problem is that not only does she love her job, but she needs it, too. She’s become very attached to Simon’s daughter and is wholly dedicated to her in her role as Hayden’s nanny. The thing is that her attraction to Simon is becoming increasingly difficult to bury and ignore. I really loved Abby, she was such a multi-faceted heroine. She may have played the part of calm and cool as a cucumber on the outside, but inside, she was anything but collected. Her heart called out to this man, and she was struggling to contain it. Not to mention that she was sure, so sure, that everyone could see the little hearts swirling around her head every time he was near.“…this is one of those moments when something happens… when this thing… shifts from a simmer to a bubbling-over-the-pot boil.”They have so much in common, and not just where Simon’s daughter is concerned. I loved the way that they bonded, not only over Hayden, but also over languages and nature. There is no way that I can write this review without mentioning their first kiss, though. That kiss… good God, it left me weak-kneed and fanning myself. Hell, I’m pretty sure I was even panting. Thankfully, I was sitting down when I read that scene, or I would have absolutely melted into a puddle of lovesick goo on my kitchen floor. (Read this book, and you’ll see what I’m talking about!) I positively adored Abby and Simon together; this couple just made my heart so very happy.“Our lips touch, and it’s like a world that was ordinary has now turned extraordinary.”I’ve read thousands of romance novels over the years (hello, romance novel book reviewer here!). We romance fans always talk about the “swoon” and how a particular hero is so swoony. I truly believed that I had a well and thorough knowledge of exactly what a swoony male lead entailed. I was wrong, so very wrong. Until I met Simon in the pages of The Sexy One, I had no idea what a truly swoon worthy hero was. Simon kept my heart soaring, racing and thumping in my chest from cover-to-cover. Blakely did an incredibly job telling their story because I felt the rush that Abby felt when his attention turned her way, I felt my breath accelerate with hers, and I definitely blushed when she did. By far—BY FAR—this character stole my heart in way that no other male lead character ever has.I can’t begin to adequately convey how much I loved this book. Without question, The Sexy One is my favorite by Lauren Blakely to date. Without hesitation, I’m giving it 5 smooches, but even with that high rating from me, it still doesn’t feel like enough. So let me sum it up by saying that this book has not only catapulted itself onto my 2016 top favorite books list, but it’s also landed a spot on my all-time top favorites list.~ Danielle Palumbo for Red Cheeks Reads

5 hilarious and sweet stars :)
Technically this is the first book in a sort of spin off-ish / companion series to Lauren Blakely's hugely popular Big rock series :) we met these two main characters in a second novel of that series... but I use the word "technically" cause this book can totally be read as a standalone... you want proof? :) I read only the first book in Big rock series, so these two were completely new people to me and it absolutely did not take away any joy I had while reading this book :) so definitely don't be discouraged if you are new to this author or don't remember every little detail if you read her other stories :) you will fall in love with this novel either way :) let me tell you a bit more about it :)Simon is a single dad with a little girl and Abby is her nanny... I know, I know... but don't roll your eyes at me :) it may sound like a cheesy cliche but it's sooooo not like that :) add to that the fact that Simon is eight years older than Abby... :) yeah... but I absolutely adored both of them :) Simon is an investor and a wonderful dad to his daughter... he's funny and smart and it does not hurt that he looks like Chris Hemsworth... *sighs dreamily* :) Abby is fantastic as well: hilarious and bright, she loves to take care of Hayden (I may have made a mistake in Simon's daughter's name, only because I listened to the audiobook version of this story, if I did, sorry) :) I don't really want to get into too many specifics about the story itself, because the book is not super long and it takes place over a pretty short amount of time, so I don't want to spoil you anything ;) instead, let me just gush all about how amazing this story was ;)When I first heard about this book I was a bit hesitant... thinking what most of you probably were thinking when you read what this book is about... that's it's gonna be stereotypical and cliche and just... silly :) oh, how wrong I was... I should have believed my sister, who read the book before me, and said I would completely fall in love with it :) yes J, you were right once again :) be nice and don't gloat ;) moving on... :) this book was just sooo... funny, sexy, lovely, cute, wonderful... you can add all other amazing adjectives and they would all be true... :) it was yet again a story where adults acted like adults, talking with each other, without any stupid / unnecessary drama or angst... and my lovely sister read a few more books by this author than I did (so far) and says the same thing can be said about them... you guys... if that will be the case, I will buy them all... and Lauren Blakely will land very high on my list of all time favourite authors... :) all of her stories I read so far, I loved :) they have the perfect balance of hilarious, sexy and just simply adorable :) between amazing main couple and lovable secondary characters you will be absolutely entertained... especially since the majority of those secondary characters already had (or will have) their own stories... let's just say that once I read one of her books, I always end up buying more... :) Lauren Blakely's writing style is very quickly becoming one of my favourite :) I am just having the best time reading her books :) this time we have two perspectives, and since I listened to the audiobook version, two narrators :) one for Simon (Sebastian York) and one for Abby (Andi Arndt) and both of them did a phenomenal job :) especially Sebastian's voice whispering to your ear will completely melt you... *sighs dreamily* :) I highly recommend you this beautiful story, no matter if you are already a fan of this author, or completely new to her work :) it will melt your heart and bring the biggest smile on your face :) so definitely pick up this gem :)

The Sexy One
The Sexy One by @laurenblakelybooks is the first book in the One Love collection. This was a re-read for me and this time I decided to listen on audio. The collection is narrated by Andi Arndt, Sebastian York and Zachary Webber - my favourites!Simon is a single dad, a wealthy businessmen and known as “The Sexy One” among the nannies of New York City. Abby is nanny to Simon’s adorable little girl Hayden. They have a great relationship and when chemistry sparks between them it’s unstoppable. This is a dual POV, workplace/single dad/forbidden/nanny romance and I loved it. I love seeing both characters perspectives as they’re at different stages in their lives and although there’s a few years between them I wouldn’t call it an age gap. They’re matched in maturity despite being a few years apart in experience.Lauren Blakely has so far never failed me! I always love the characters and the writing is so easy to become absorbed in. I can’t wait to continue on with the rest of the One Love collection and I’ll be listening to them all on @audible.

He's hot, he's sexy and he's 'the one'!!!
I love Lauren Blakely’s book. Her writing is always fun and flirty, full of humor and that all important passion. The finished story never fails to leave me with a happy heart and a huge smile on my face and The Sexy One was no exception.I really loved this forbidden love, friends to lovers, boss/ assistant romance. Simon was the perfect hot and sexy alpha male, with the heart of gold and the cutest little girl.Abbie is his daughter Hayden’s nanny. She’s secretly been in love with his since they first met, as he has been with her, although they think it’s just lust. Both know they shouldn’t act on their impulses and they haven’t until one night, the attraction was just too strong. These two were devine together, I loved every minute of this story. It was fun, I laughed, I even cried a little and that ending… aww, I perfect. What more can I say?

Very enjoyable read
Just finished this after starting it this morning (good way to spend a day off sick!) and I loved it. Like most of Lauren Blakely's books it was easy to read, nothing too challenging but interesting, had a good story line, had many laugh out loud moments, many smiles, a few twists and lots of passion. I loved Simon, that he was normal, even though gorgeous, he wasn't big headed etc. I loved Abby and her bizarre interests in nature which made me smile, I loved Hayden, she was just so cute, I loved the relationships of them all within the story and I loved the ending...the epilogue....which I wasn't best pleased with...followed by the next epilogue which made me happy! Read it, go on! X

This is romantic and swoony and ahhh.....When you dream of perfect scenarios for nanny, dad and an adorable little girl, yes.. and then some it is 'get me to the park to look for dads right now' in a non creepy way perfection!
