Nice kettle - Updated
I've been using this roughly a half a year now, and I've been pretty happy with it. Overall, it is well made and of very good quality. I really couldn't find any defects in materials/workmanship. I've left water sitting in it off and on, and nothing has rusted yet. The handle is big and comfortable; I don't fill it entirely up with water, but it never feels flimsy. The spout pours very well and I never find myself spilling water.I have had some random moments where it seems to have a "mind of it's own"; like when I had it set to maintain a temperature but it takes itself off of that setting. I also don't care for how you can't set it to maintain a temperature unless the temperature you want is higher than the current displayed temperature; unless you do it at the very start, then it's fine. I will say none of what I just mentioned takes away from the kettle functioning well.Overall I'm very happy with this kettle; it functions great, it's easy to use, it is very well made, it's attractive, and the display is also easy to read. I really couldn't ask for too much more in an electronic kettle.Update: Still using it roughly every day, for getting close to 3 years; still functions as good as it did on day one with no leaks, rust or any other functionality problems.

The perfect kettle for this tea drinker!
I had a Krups electric kettle for 11 years before it died. It took me a month to decide if I should get the same style/new model, one with adjustable temperature, or one with a glass carafe. I use my kettle at least once every day, so I wanted one that would last. I am so pleased with this upgraded version! The issues I had with my old kettle are resolved with this new model. On my old kettle, the plastic cracked where the water level indicator is & steam was spewing out. This new model is metal behind the water level indicator, so I don't think that will happen again. The old lid was spring loaded & had to be twisted on just right. Sometimes it wouldn't close completely or get stuck. The new model's lid opens at the press of a button! Having an adjustable temperature is great and frankly, my favorite feature is the keep warm function! There are so many times I am unable to make my tea right away or want a second cup. The kettle actually reboils the water for me. Finally, the polite beep when the water has boiled is not so loud that it wakes my family, but loud enough that I can hear it if I'm in the kitchen. I thought the handle in front of the water level indicator would make it hard to see the level, but the kettle easily turns & it's not an issue at all. The kettle is lighter than the previous model & has a perfect pour. Some buyers have been concerned about mineral build-up in kettles. I learned after drinking tea for over 25 years that no matter what type of kettle you have, electric or the kind that sits on the stove, you can't leave water sitting in it for extended periods of time & you have to clean it periodically. We have very hard water & I would say I clean it about every other month. I just let it sit overnight with white vinegar and water. I pour it out the next day & boil a full kettle with clean water twice. It's usually good to go after that & the vinegar smell is gone. I always use filtered water, pour out any excess water when I'm done with my tea, & I leave the lid open. I'm really happy I made the right choice!

Great kettle
I decided to get this model because I love the design and quality of Krups products. Also, it's got temperature control at an affordable price. Just got it, so far so good. Only thing is that the water level viewer is at the back. It's bit hard to see the water level. My old kettle had it on the side so it might take some time to get used to it. And if you are concerned about the water touching any plastic, you might to reconsider. See pics that I uploaded. There's two plastic round things that hold up the water level viewer. I actually went to bed bath and beyond and most kettle have the same issue except for the kettles that cost $100 or more. I'm not ready to splurge on a water kettle so I'll just keep this for now. There's also plastic at the sprout when u pour water, the water will touch plastic. Overall, it's a good product at a very reasonable price.

Boiling water in 5 minutes
There are two parts to the kettle, the base, which houses the cord, and the kettle, itself. The kettle is nice and solid and has a nice stainless steel finish. It does not feel cheaply made. The only exception is the lid. It is plastic. It has a plastic button on the top that makes it pop open. It is a fake shiny silver color. The shiny metal does not match the stainless steel.I put it in the sink to wash it out and then quickly grabbed it out. When I double checked the manual, it said not to immerse under "care and keeping". Luckily, it didn't seem to harm it. The instructions should put the immersion warning under the "before you begin" section. There is a window on the side of the kettle which allows you to watch the water level. It was easy to fill and place on the base. There are 4 buttons. Temperature, which has 7 options of 140 to 212 degrees, boil, on/off, and keep warm. I found it to take around 5 minutes for the full kettle to reach full boiling temperature. It is a bit loud, though, as it gets there, but the noise only lasts for about 30 seconds. I was a bit disappointed with the keep warm feature. I wish it would stay on for longer than one hour. I know that is kind of silly considering that it only takes 5 minutes to heat up, but it is just a personal preference. All in all, my thoughts on this product are positive. It worked great for my daughter’s instant oatmeal. My husband said the ice tea was really good, it made the ice tea taste, “tea-ier”, Usually we would use the stove top for ice tea and it took forever to boil, or we would forget it was boiling, which would then boil dry. If I wanted a cup of hot tea, I would use the Kuerig. The problem with this, is you generally get tea that tastes like coffee, even if you flush with water first, which is a pain, as well. This is a great product to take care of these issues. I would definitely recommend it

Wonderful kettle, miles ahead of the competition and well designed
I don't understand why this item is so low down the list when you search for kettles. Honestly, this is the greatest kettle I've ever used. And this is coming from someone who has used kettles from every other brand and who uses a kettle 3-4 times a day (I drink boiled water, cold water seems to upset my stomach). The kettle itself is made of a wonderful construction, it looks gorgeous. The filter at the spout, that catches any mineral flakes, is a snap on, snap off! Hooooly crap, that is one of those features that are "what you want but somehow never implemented". Usually these mesh filters are incredibly difficult to remove, either being locked in place or placed on this interior of the kettle. But on this kettle it's a snap out and slide off located on the outside of the kettle! Incredibly simple, making the kettle amazingly easy to clean and the filter absolutely easy to remove. The buttons and user interface is incredibly intuitive. Water boils quickly (but not in a way thats so much faster than any other water boiler if speed is what you're curious about). The temperature meter gives you a play by play of how hot the water is at any given time. No annoying loud peeps. It powers down like how it powers on; gracefully and without drama. It's one of those things that are so intuitive that reading the manual isn't necessary (but I still recommend you do). Seriously this is a wonderful kettle. It is a 1.7L kettle which is on the large side, despite the kettle not looking very large and the stand having a rather small footprint. Note that when you fill the water, the water level indicator does fill slower than does the kettle itself. That is a bit frustrating. But it's not the end of the world. I find that boiling more than the max or less than the max amount of water is not a problem for this kettle. And although, I will say that only time will tell of it's durability, but straight out of the box, it already feels more quality than every single other kettle I've purchased. Nothing feels flimsy and no function feels like it's there because the designer just wanted to throw in more bang for the buck. You can kind of tell everything is on this kettle for a reason. And it all works amazingly. I will check back in if any durability issues arise.

Very accurate and performs as expected.
When water is put in the pot and the unit is "on", you immediately get the temp of the water as it came out of the tap.Started with some measurements:1)cold water from tap 64oF ; measured with instant read 62o2)put 1 litre on to boil--took 4 min 6 seconds3)put that same pot on "keep warm". It maintained the 212o although it did not boil.4)tried setting temp at 175o--stopped at 175o5)when setting the temp, it will flash "set" at whatever temp you stop at. No need for further action as it will start to heat up.6)the water will heat up whether the lid is open or closed--no interlock .7)there are 7 temps (no mid range like 145): 140 155 175 185 195 200 and 2128)there is a "boil" button as well as one to set a different temp (saves scrolling through the menu).Only negative point at this time is as others have said: the (clear) water level gauge is somewhat blocked by the handle. Minor point. Can't rate durability at this time as it was just received today. Time will tell.Overall, with these short tests, it performs perfectly.Nov 5 2019 update. Unit still performs flawlessly. Only issue is the sticker they put on the side requires goo-gone or similar to get off. It provides no info, only advert for the product.
