The Garnier charcoal soap is an effective cleanser, leaving skin noticeably clean and free of excess oil and impurities. However, it does strip the skin, so I’d recommend following up with a good moisturiser, especially if you have dry skin. At £3, even on sale, it feels slightly overpriced, but it’s still a worthwhile purchase for its results. Just be aware that the charcoal can leave black droplets and marks in the shower, so a soap dish is essential to keep things tidy. Despite initial scepticism, I’d consider repurchasing in the future.

The soap works very well, and isn't too "gritty". I would advise caution as to how it is stored though. I kept it in a soap dish made of beautiful carved wood, and unfortunately, the charcoal in the soap stained the soap dish. If used in plastic or ceramic soap dishes, this would not cause a problem. The soap does leave you feeling very clean, and it cleared up some back acne. It would be too harsh for facial use for myself, but could work well for others. Garnier is no longer testing on animals (unlike many of the other big brands that, sadly, still do test on animals). This is a big plus-point for me!

foams up lovely but not enough scrub

This is a soap you can use to reduce oiliness on skin and body. I like the smell, as it is very strongly infused with charcoal to enhance its benefits.

After getting through my teens spot free. I have suffered massively with hormonal breakouts for the last 4 years. I have tried many products and nothing worked. My skin was so bad I would dread holidays and having to go makeup free. I saw a huge difference after one week. I have now completely finished my first bar and just bought 2nd. I am more than happy to be makeup free again, scaring and redness has been massively reduced. And I think I've had maybe 3 small spots since with get nipped straight in bud with this soap. I highly recommended its given me my confidence back and at such a cheap price compared to everything else I tried over the 4 years.
