Used as a prefilter for my RV water system. Used 3/4 NPT to GHT fittings to adapt for the campground spigot. This filter before everything and it has made a difference in how long the filters downstream last, as well as how long my softener can go without a recharge. I really like that it's sustainable - nothing to replace. The body is ABS plastic so relatively long lasting. The 1 micron sediment filter that's inline after this product stays cleaner longer. Seems easily maintainable.

Easy to install and clean filter

Easy to install. Very solid device. The flush hose fitting seems a bit flimsy but I haven't tested it yet. Interesting to see how it works while rotating the base to "wipe" debris from the filter. I'll update the review, if I have additional input, after the first flush.

The media could not be loaded. Went from paper filters to this and it works great! Water flow hasn’t slowed in two weeks, filters out the big stuff and keeps the plunge clean. Haven’t had to yet but looks to be super easy to clear out as well. Very happy so far.

This was very easy to install if you've done any sort of plumbing before. I put this inline with my water supply coming into the house; this sits right after the main shutoff and before any breakouts to various sources; after this, I run lines to the garden hose and to the water softener. Then I have a carbon filter after that, and the lines run out to the hard water supply in the house (which is cold water to faucets).Here's the thing: Our underground pipes are galvanized so between them and the crappy city lines, they shed a lot of debris into the water. This thing filters out all the big and medium chunks so that my water softener doesn't have to and the garden hose doesn't get it, and then farther down the line, my carbon filter doesn't get prematurely clogged up with chunks and goop and lasts a lot longer. This doesn't require anything more than a flush every so often so it costs me nothing once installed. Highly recommended.

The mounting bracket attaches to the clear cup; NOT good unless pipe is made from garden hose! bracket should attach to the brass housing and NOT the clear cup. The drain is threaded 3/8 NPT which will have to be disconnected every time the cannister is opened. While the scraper might seem a plus, it cannot be used unless the drain line is disconnected to allow the bottom to rotate in order to scrape the filter. Better to just remove the cannister and blow it out with compressed air. Note this is a 40 micron filer cartridge which is meant for relatively clear CITY water. I installed it to catch any gunk/large rust that comes through when the annual fir hydrant flushing occurs.

filter is working wonders ! easy to use, and cleans grit out of my well water.
