Scriptural Arguments for St. Peter as the First Pope
This is a well-researched book (with over 400 citations). The author, a Catholic, shows through analysis of the Scriptures that Jesus Christ established the Papacy with St. Peter as the first Pope. The first two chapters set-up the weakness of Protestantism. The subsequent chapters then go through various Gospel verses in which Jesus Christ gives special authority to St. Peter. The author's approach is to present the Catholic positions, then the Protestant counter-arguments, and finally a refutation of the Protestant positions. An outstanding book.My only criticism is that this book does not have an index or a bibliography.

Really liked it
Goes more in depth into the Papacy and the Protestant belief of Visible and Invisible Church than any other book I've read thus far. I also enjoy the talk about certainty and faith in the beginning of the book. 10/10 would read again.

Arguments are thorough and nuanced
The arguments presented in this book was very well done. I had never noticed or realized how much of the papacy and Peter’s office is revealed in the Bible. I loved that this book was not just an information dump, but Heschmeyer really fleshed out his propositions and considered the counterarguments.

Exceeded my expectations
The first 2 or 3 chapters: Not exactly what I expected when I bought the book, however it was extremely important, very well-researched and contains a lot of valuable information. The rest of the book: Exactly what I wanted and expected, and exceeded my expectations! I've listened to quite a lot of Catholic Apologetics and some of the information contained in this book was familiar to me already. However, Joe Heschmeyer does a brilliant job by going into a lot more detail regarding certain discussions which I never would have known if i did not buy this book. There were even passages where, to my shock, i never noticed Peter's Primacy before now. Joe does a brilliant job in articulating different views, interpretations and objections. If someone is even remotely interested in learning about the origins of the Papacy and the Church, this book is an absolute must-have!
