My dog wouldn't touch it
I really wanted this to work for my dog but he would not touch it. He has serious issues with his paws. I put treats in it and he just sat there. I opened it myself and let him get it but when I put more treats in it, he made no move to try to get to them. Eventually I tried to put his paw on it to show him he could open it but he would have nothing to do with it. I tried for several days until my dog started to snarl at me when I showed it to him. I knew the miracle I had hoped for wasn't going to happen. This device is such a great idea. It is extremely well made. It was packaged very well and came very quickly. I would have given this a 5+ rating had it worked.š

Works like a charm
I was skeptical about this nail file, but I was desperate to find something for my husky mix who is afraid of clippers and the dremel. Asked the vet to trim his nails, to which they responded with āwe couldnāt do it, you can just give him some trazodone and do it at homeā. I am not comfortable with giving my dog drugs like that, so even at the high price point for this nail file I was willing to give it a shot. And boy it did not disappoint! I followed the included directions, and at first he was pawing at the floor near the file. I kept tapping on the surface of the file and he picked it up not long after, Iād say about 5-10 minutes! He would scratch softly at first, then the more I worked with him the harder he scratched! In my experience it especially works best with the front two nails, the two outer nails do get filed but not to as much an extent. It certainly does the job and I see this being useful for years to come!

Wanted it to work
I could not get my dog to dig or scratch this board. I tried everything, even with the treats he would just lick it or sniff it. I wanted it to work so bad! For the price I had to send it back.

Perfect! A lasting solution to nails our boxer won't let anyone trim!
The media could not be loaded. Ā Amazing product! Our Boxer would not let anyone touch his nails and this was a constant problem. DDNF fixed it! He LOVES the "game" of getting the treat and it filed his front nails down in one day. It seems pricey but it's EXTREMELY well made (our dog is rough!) and certainly less trouble & expense of repeated vet visits - especially if they'd have to drug your dog to trim his nails. The abrasive surface is not going to wear out, for those worried about that. The whole device is very sturdy and will last a lifetime even for our boxer who loves to pound on things. He's getting older and having him run on the tennis court (which really wears the nails) was getting problematic with a bad hip. We didn't want to bring him to the vet because we knew they'd have to anesthetize him to cut his nails. The DDNF is a perfect solution! Thank you for such a great product!UPDATE 6/17/17 - After owning this for just a few days, we have decided we wouldn't sell the DDNF back for TWICE the money we paid for it!!! It has gotten our Buddy's nails down to where they need to be and we now have the perfect tool to keep them there! I have to put it out of eyesight or he actually begs for me to put in on the floor so we can "play" with it! I only wish I'd taken before pictures because I'll never see his nails that long again. :)UPDATE 6/27/17 - I actually found a picture taken two weeks before we got the DDNF. I've uploaded that, along with pics taken a couple days ago. I also added a 9 second video of him using the DDNF. I just put a little lunch meat in it and he loves it! You can see what a difference it made in his nails!

You CAN teach an old dog new tricks!
I have two aging Weimaraners, a 13-year-old male and 10-year-old female. For years, I've used a Dremel tool to grind their nails, an activity they tolerate but don't enjoy. Then, last month, I stumbled upon this product on Amazon. At first, I was highly skeptical because it just sounded too good to be true. But I was really curious, so I emailed a few questions to the inventor/seller. She answered them quickly and helpfully. I also watched several videos of dogs using the product (you can find these by searching for "digger dog nail file" on You Tube). Based on all of this information, I decided I had to give it a try.I've had the nail file for about a month and can honestly say that it really works! I followed the training instructions exactly and worked with my dogs (separately) for five minutes every day for a week. My female learned how to use it in just two days. It took a bit longer for my male to figure it out (he's really old, has arthritis and only one eye) but even he had it down at the end of the week. Now when I get out the nail file and put it on the floor, the dogs get super excited. They think it's a fun game. In fact, I wanted to make a video of them trimming their own nails to attach to this review, but they get so rambunctious I couldn't figure out how (I have to hold the device in place on the floor with one hand on the handle and store a treat supply in the other hand). Maybe I can get a friend to help me make a video eventually. To sum up, I highly recommend this to all dog owners who dislike trimming their dogs' nails. It's a bit pricey, but it's very well made and it works!
