Great toy for our pup!
We have a very active, always-chewing puppy, so we are constantly on the lookout for new, safe toys for her. This Crinkits was an almost instant hit! I say almost because we don't use water bottles and I had to beg one from a friend. Thankfully, I read the instructions before trying to insert the water bottle! With a bit of dish soap and some warm water, followed by a good rinse, it was a piece of cake! Our pup chews the middle, loving the crinkly noise, and also the ends, and there are no signs of destruction. She tosses it, jumps on it, attacks it, rolls on it, and not a scratch. I worried, as always, about the quality of the toy, wondering if it would hold up or be torn to shreds in minutes, but it has proven to be a safe toy for our girl. We inspect every toy, every day, removing any that show signs of wear, but the Crinkits looks like it will be with us for a very long time.Update: it's been nearly 5 years and this toy is still going strong! A couple years ago, we added a rescue Golden Retreiver mix, and for a year and a half, he chewed everything that he could wrap his teeth around. Anything stuffed lasted less than 5 minutes, so we bought only toys rated for "heavy-chewers" but the ONLY ones that survived his dedicated destruction are the Crinkit and a toy designed for horses! A truly exceptional toy!

Vodka & bacon grease does the job?
Frustrating! I was excited to find these for my dogs. I have two female pit bulls that love to chew on empty water bottles so this seemed to be a great solution to the bottle lasting more than 30 seconds.First off it's not easy getting the bottle inside. I'll admit the first try was with a vitamin water bottle which is thicker than most. After drinking the grapefruit flavor water with a dbl shot of vodka, yum! I gave it a try. No luck. I added soap to the bottle and it worked after lots of swearing. The bottle was too thick to make any noise, now I have to get the damn thing back out! Another dbl shot down I tried it again. This time with a Trader Joe's bottle which is thin! After adding soap it went in much easier! Yay! It squeaks! After rinsing off the soap and draining the water I threw them to the girls. Neither dog will put these bottled in their mouth. Is it the smell of soap, rubber? WTH?Next try I went outside rubbed bacon grease on the outside and gave them a toss in the air. The girls picked them up licked them off and left them.Being determined and slightly buzzed I still going at it...

Could be really great - or not . . . .
This is a difficult review. Whether or not you purchase this item for your dog really depends upon how much of a chewer they are. Our 9 year old lab absolutely LOVES his Crinkit. He chews it, throws it around, can't get enough of it. He has had it for months and it still looks like the day we bought it. SOOOO because our lab loves it so much, I frequently purchase a Crinkit as a hostess gift when our hosts own dogs. Well, we were having cocktails at someone's house and their 5 year old Golden Retriever starts playing with her new Crinkit. She loved it, but within about two minutes, there were pieces of the Crinkit on the floor. I couldn't believe my eyes!!! Luckily she just chews and spits out, rather than eating the pieces. So if you purchase this for your pet, be sure to monitor them with it to see if they will be able to chew pieces off.

Fill with old dog toy squeakers!
Trying to shove a water bottle in the opening of the Crinkits was not successful. By the time I got it in there, it was pretty mangled and not much crinkle left. My dog who loves water bottle toys would not touch it. Freaked her out.Brainstorm! I have a baggie full of perfectly good squeakers that my dog liberated from unworthy stuffed toys. I saved them, thinking that some day I will buy some rugged fur by the yard and make some really durable stuffed toys. Never happened. I hate to sew!Anyway, I put about 5 squeakers in the Crinkits tube, and my pooch is in LOVE! We have a winner, folks! Seems pretty durable, too. If you don't hear back, you know it is still alive!

Durable!
My dog loves bottle toys and this is one she can't gnaw the velcro off of...because there isn't any. It can be hard to jam the bottle in there. The instructions recommend using a little soap to lubricate the process, but I thought it sounded kinda icky if the dog licked the bottle (they can get to it a little from the bottom). I used a little water-based, um, well, personal lubricant. It made it really easy. We've had it for a few weeks now and she's managed a few times (after a lot of work) to get the bottles out but she's never been able to do any damage to the toy.

good idea in theory...
my dog loves it, no doubt! holds up to a pretty aggressive chewer as well. having said that, i DREAD replacing the bottle. takes two men and a boy to shove it in there. yes, i am aware it isnt for the 20 oz. bottle, but the 16 oz. I have it pretty much mangled before i even giveit to the dog. if anyone has a tip for getting these in there i would be thrilled to hear it. directions said to wet it. thats it. with what? lithium grease??

German Short Haired Pointer
I got this item for my German Short Haired Pointer. Dagen has been working on it for two days. I noticed she walked away from it a few minutes ago. She came over to me and gladly gave me the water bottle she had gotten out of the Crinket toy. Don't ask me how she got it out because it took me twenty minutes to get the bottle in the toy.. The product is good. At least it kept Dagen busy for 48 hours. If you know German Short Haired pointers you know the money was worth it. I have to go now. I have to work at getting another water bottle in the toy.

A favorite among many
My dog loves loves loves it! Her favorite of all time. Long lasting. Only complaint is that on day two she chewed up the edge on one side. Just the outer edge. I thought that was the end, Nope. She did not ruin the crinkit. She still loves it as a favorite. Never did she destroy the other side. She loves it so do I.
