The Hospitality of God: A Reading of Luke's Gospel

The book offers a good analysis into the Gospel of Luke and preents the events as portrayed by Luke in the life of Christ is a readable and understandable manner. I thought informative and enlightening.

Good spiritual reading for me

Brendan Byrne makes the Gospel of Luke come alive in a new way. After reading Byrne's book, my reading of Luke is forever changed.....in a very positive manner.

The book is an interesting read. I really enjoyed reading the book and found the information very useful in life today.

Luke is definitely about the hospitality we owe other Christians as well as other men and women. However, Fr. Byrne gives himself away when he comments in his introduction that prior to writing he had a tendency to overlook the more severe parts of Luke' message in favor of those that "feel good." His further apologies to feminists seem irrelevant as well. The Bible is what it is and it was all written in an age and a culture that did not recognize politically correct agendas. That is also my objection to the NRSV Bible which he uses for his quotes. Jesus, in his humanity, was a product of that age and culture, but called all men and women from that time on to be one with HIm and love as He loved the Church. That standard is far above the politically driven agendas of today.

A very helpful presentation. The hospitality focus is a treat. This book would be very illuminating to preachers during year C.
