Spin Doctor tile leveling system 1/8" Baseplates 100pc

This is a fantastic system, but its not a cure all.
First id like to apologize that I dont have any pictures of the spin doctor leveling system actually being used. I didn't think to take pictures until I had knocked all of them off the wall. "I guess we cant all be geniuses right".I am no professional tiler, but I have laid my fair share of tile. Let me tell you. This system works fantastic. This was my first time using this leveling system and I absolutely loved it. A must have for laying large format tiles. You can correct lippage by hand one tile at a time as you go, but it takes so much time and I can pretty much guaranty that you will have a headache. I dont really see a need for using a leveling system with smaller format tiles like 12x12, but when you are working with tiles that have a measurement over 15 inches on any edge. These will save you a lot of frustration. This system also has more uses than just leveling. The baseplates serve and both a spacer and a shim. Snap off the stem and you can use it as a free spacer. The bottom portion is shaped like a wedge so they are great when you need to make small incremental adjustments in the spacing of a tile. This system has also proven to be reliable. When i say reliable I mean that I have used other leveling systems in the past and when it came to breaking off the stem once the mortar has dried they would not always break where they were supposed to and you are left grinding away at the little piece of plastic sticking out of the tile spacing. I did not have that problem with this system. I used a mallet to knock them out and they all broke off cleanly. So that was a huge plus in my book. What you should not do is buy these and assume they will make for the perfect tile job all by themselves. There are still things you need to pay close attention to. If you are installing tile on a horizontal surface you still need to make sure your tiles are level, and if you are installing on a vertical surface you need to make sure the tiles are plumb. All be are that when you tighten the cap down it will push or pull one tile or the one next to it. That pushing and pulling can through of how level they are so check them for level or plumb after tightening the cap. Also in order to keep consistent spacing through out the entire tile job. You want to make sure your tiles are pushes snug up against the spacer before tightening the cap.Id highly recommend anyone laying large format tile give this system a try. It really does do a great job. My only gripe about the system is the cost. The system just costs to much, but I think all the time leveling systems come in a bit to expensive. Though it is expensive it was worth it, because I was installing premium porcelain tile. They are not cheap and wanted get the best tile job I could.

FAIL TO BREAK AS ADVERTISED
We used a set of these putting down large format tiles. On the positive side, they did help with leveling. The bad side is several of the black stems failed to clean break. Videos show how simple it is. Well, it ain't. It was due to them seated in too much of the thinset. Reviewing the instructions, very little is mentioned that the spot needs to be clear before placing. It was a job getting rid of the stubs embedded in the grout line. We did use the disks which were beneficial and it you still go with this leveling method, be sure to use the disks as well. Product is somewhat expensive and the 'no thinset' message needs to be emphasized.

Works great even for an amateur DIYer.
They work great for me as a home DIY that wanted to get a professional looking tile job. While my first tile work did not come out perfect, it came out far better than I suspect it would have had I not used these. My only complaint is on the wall I did with these occasionally they would break off one of the legs when tightening the leveling caps down making me have to try and push another one down into place. The legs could use a little more strength added to them so they don't break off one side as easily (I'm talking about breaking it across the base, not the part that is intended to break off when hit with a rubber malet).

These work really well.
I have laid tile several times before, but never used a leveling system. I will use these every time in the future. It made lining up and leveling so much faster and easier, and no special tools are needed to use it.

Spacers for larger tile
Easy to break off when tile is set. Good spacers that stay in place.
