A perfect companion for people embarking on their journey to explore photography
I bought this for my mother and it absolutely did not disappoint. For an english literature major who is now figuring out the joys of digital photography from her phone, this book was the first she picked up from the birthday pile. With the empowering tools everyone has in this age to become photographers, this book changes the way you think and how photographs have such a deeper subconscious impact in the way we see ourselves and the world.

Wonderful but exhausting
for people that don't possess prior knowledge of the history and how-who-since-when of photography. you'll find yourself spending more time googling names, years, events, photographs, etc than reading the book itself.i expected more of Sontag's personal opinions on the a-z of photography, instead it's 70% event/ year/ photographer name-dropping and only 30% of her 'interpretation/ analysis' of the same.but for her bold opinions, eccentric views, strong control of pace and poetic writing in an extremely simplified form, i give this book a 4/5.

Quality is not up to mark
The book is nice but the cover and paper quality is not up to the mark. Paper feels cheap and print quality is also not that great. I've seen cheaper books with better quality. Looks like a pdf that's printed and cover made of 250gsm paper.
