Makes things quiet when installed correctly
For the price this is a great value. I would expect to pay at least $15 for each piece and maybe twice that for the bass drum mute if I bought separately. Not all of the pieces fit on the Tama starter kit that we have, so check your drum sizes. These work for a 12 year old drummer who plays LOUD. The pads limit some stick feel as you may expect but they still let you make musical (but quieter) sounds with the drums. Drums go from "boom boom boom crash" to "poof poof poof tick" but you can hear the tuning and kit balance. The bass drum mute works especially well. It handles a double bass pedal. It is a device that is "hung" on the drum frame not a sticky pad.The cymbal mutes can be clamped in the middle with clothes pins if they are not the correct size. We have one one the high hat and one one the ride. They work great and you can hit the metal with the stick.

Sounds amazingly good, fits my kit well
I have a vintage kit and 13 inch high hats, and these mutes fit everything. (Vintage drum heads are a wee bit larger than current standard) The hi hat mute is designed for standard 14 inch cymbals, but they work on my 13 inch set, they are staying on. I am not using the bass drum mute, it has brackets and a thick foam strike plate; I just don't think I need it. The ride cymbal mute lets you hit the actual metal cymbal and still mute the sound, which means the bounce is exactly what you'd get without the mute. Ditto the crash mute, and you can adjust how much sound you get to some degree. The drum head mutes are rubbery foam stuff about 1/8 - 1/4 inch thick, the bounce is more authentic (drum head like) than you get with a typical Remo practice pad, which is more bouncy than a drum head, in my opinion. Other interesting thing: You can hear the different pitches of the various toms even with the mutes, very nice. Overall I am so happy because I can practice a lot more.

Good quality, moderate muting
I have been using these drum/cymbal mutes for a month or so. The quality seems quite good, and I expect them to be durable. Stick bounce feels good to me, but I am no expert yet.Installation is simple for drums (plop them on top of the head), for crash and hihat cymbals (the mutes slide on without need for removing the cymbal), and only slightly more time-comsuming to place the ride mute under the felt and wing nut. The kick mute took a few minutes to assemble, but is then easily removed. The level of sound reduction is good for the drums, moderate for cymbals, and less for the kick drum. The drum heads are fully covered, while the cymbals are covered only half or less by the rubber mutes. I have draped cloth padding over the face of the kick drum between the mute and the beater for added muffling. My wife can hear me drumming when she is in another room down the hall, but at a level of sound that is not so intrusive to become annoying; she can be watching TV or working at her desk, and perhaps even sleeping if she is tired. Overall, the mutes are working out satisfactorily.

So Cool
I am not a very loud drummer to begin with so these mutes suit my purpose well. My only critique of the item is that I wish the crash mute would be the same as the ride and hi hat mutes, which are way more effective. In my pursuit of drum mutes, I was not looking to preserve the natural sound of my drums, I just wanted to reduce the volume of the drum kit just be able to play without feeling like I was walking on eggshells. The surfaces do not feel and respond like natural drums heads, and the bass mute is quite thick. The impact point for the bass drum is very noticeably closer that a bare drum. If you are a heavy hitting drummer and you're trying to play without bothering neighbors or roommates, mesh drum heads or an electronic drum kit might suit your purpose more so than these mutes, but for me, my practice opportunities have greatly increased due to my purchase.

Does as They Should
These are great drum heads! Actual bounce bk action on cymbals: Pros; does what it says. Con1; awful smell and unfortunately I took the chance, hoping these would fit my 13 inch hihats which are not vintage, so maybe that makes all the difference, did not fit. Ended up not being a big deal since I also own 14 inch hihats, but I really do feel like Vic Firth and Evans should do a better job of expanding the options of muting 13 inch hihats as there seem to not be many options available. I think Vic Firth has one whose ratings are few and looks to be non-effective. A simple piece of material that hangs over the cymbal, similar to the 16 inch mute included in this set. Con2; had to purchase separate mute for 10 inch ton, so more options for bundle packages would be great! Over all, as long as u can find all sizes needed I DO RECOMMEND

Turns the sound off
This is a great product, all around. I have read reviews saying that all pads were good, except the kick. I will go ahead and say that all of these pads are fantastic!! The HQ Soundoff line is great, and it decreases the amount of headache i get from my neighbors complaints.I do have to say that i bought an extra cymbal mute from a local dealer, it was a "Evan's Soundoff" (im sure just a product name change, exact same item) but for some reason the color from that comes off horribly onto my cymbal. Leaves a purple/black tarnished mark, but it was able to come clean with some elbow grease. I have since put a microfiber towel underneath to keep the mute from rubbing the metal and tarnishing it further.I would def recommend this item to a friend

Impressive
Perfect fit for my Yamaha Gigmaker drum set with zildjan zbt4 pro hi hat, crash and ride.Reduces sound output surprisingly well and close to the advertised 95% (except maybe for the bass drum mute which is slightly less muting comparatively) and has a decent feel to it too. bass drum mute can be adjusted with your drum key and there is plenty of room on it for my gibraltar double bass pedal.Only negative I can think of if i was being nitpicky is that it comes with only 1 crash mute and not the 2 i need. 5 stars nonetheless!
