Great hardware, poor documentation. Here's the trick ...
The unit works well. Well enough I'm buying two more. The programming instructions, assuming you have an opener with the more complex rolling code, are pretty bad however. I suspect thats why some reviews claim this unit didn't work for them. There was a lot of trial and error; and ultimately on success, frustration at how poorly the sequence for my Overhead Door / Genie system was described.I give the unit itself - the cleverness of the electronics and attractiveness of the industrial design, 5 stars. The programming instructions, 1 star. Both for the lack of clarity, and a ridiculously tiny font size.Addendum ...After re-reading the 1-star reviews, I think the biggest trick to getting this to work with most openers is in realizing that you typically do NOT want to copy the code from your old controller. For openers with rolling codes (most openers built since the late '90's(?)) you want to follow the later instructions which tell you to "press and hold button 2, while pressing button 4 four times" after that you press the button you want to use for the door in question, the number of times given in the table - in my case, 5 times for a '99 era Overhead Door (Genie technology) opener. And you're done! (with programming this unit) - you still have to go through the sequence of having your opener "learn" this new controller. The whole "cloning of your old controller" is emphasized ... its a neat engineering trick and maybe what they're most proud of ... but its useful only for older (25+ years), fixed code openers. An online table of "Opener model vs programming sequence" would be really helpful.

Very nice remote, compact and simple design
Nice unit, very compact and can work equally well on your visor or as a key fob. Programming was pretty straightforward if you read the instructions carefully and all the way through. And speaking of instructions -- I originally gave this product a 2-star review because based on the those, I mistakenly believed that only the first 3 buttons would work with the most common devices (chamberlain / liftmaster, etc.) and the 4th was reserved for less common devices. After some back and forth with the reseller and re-reading the directions it became clearer that the difference with the 4th button only has to do with which buttons are pre-programmed for which device types -- which only matters if you don't have an original remote to program from. The directions are a bit cryptic on that score, which is why I gave it 4 stars not 5, but otherwise this is a super nice nice remote and I'd definitely recommend it.

Poor range
I am not impressed with these remotes. They have a really limited range and direction. I normally reverse in to my driveway and from that position these remotes would never open the garage less than 4 feet behind my truck. However, taking it off the visor and directing it toward the door and stretching in to the back seat usually gets it. Failing that I'll have to roll down the window and stick it outside. The construction is not bad so that's nice. They haven't fallen apart yet.

ROLLING CODE DUPLICATION will not work.
Will not clone a community gate remote if you don't have access to the gate's learn button. My community's gate is a DoorKing and this can only get so far. Most of this remotes how-to videos are in Italian. So if you're fluent in Italian, you're good for finding out extra info. If not, you're SOL.Just to rehash the main points:ROLLING CODE DUPLICATION - will not work unless you're able to access the receivers learn button or pairing coding. This remote will not simply duplicate your rolling code remote and be able to operate your gate/garage.FIXED CODE DUPLICATION - works well and seems to work on multiple frequencies. But there are plenty of less expensive alternatives especially if your remotes are in the same frequencies.

Doesn't support DoorKing gate.
Didn't work for a "DoorKing" gate, which it claims to support. The lights blinked correctly according to the instructions, indication it was programmed correctly, but it wouldn't open the gate. I tried several times. I know the gate's fob can be "learned" because it worked just fine with my Tundra's homelink buttons when I still had the truck. I did not need access to the gate itself for programming.

Great Replacement
Absolutely LOVE this opener remote. It's quite a bit more inexpensive than the LIFTMASTER remote I thought I was going to have to buy, and it looks much sharper than the design of the OE remote that hasn't been updated since 1984.I found the directions to be fairly clear, and had my remote working in 20 minutes on both my garage doors. For my LiftMASTER, I had to - Hold button (1) and press button (2) 4 times until the flash changed, then run up a ladder to click the pairing button on the back of the Lift unit. After a few tries it worked perfect.

Not so compatible. And useless "support"
Despite what this product's description claims, it apparently is not compatible with Allstar brand garage door openers. The meager instructions in tiny font were in butchered English. They mentioned only a few other brands of garage door openers and stated the complete list was on their Web site, which it was not. When I emailed their support about it, they replied without answering my question. I was left with a useless product. No thanks.

Great So Far
Great so far. This is very easy to program and works well with both our entry gate and door opener. I first bought, then returned, a Genie remote, thinking it should be the best remote for a Genie opener, but that wasn't the case. The Genie remote was terrible, barely worked. I also tried a Chamberlain universal remote, but it didin't work with our entry gate. I was ready to spend several hundred dollars to have Homelink installed in my car, so am glad I found this product.
