The Beast Within: A Gabriel Knight Mystery

This is a vintage game, made several yrs ago. The product I got was a used game and there were a few times I had to re-start.I saved my progress every time a made progress because I never knew when the game would freeze. But with a little extra time it was ok.It's a 6 disk game and when I finally got almost to the end of disk 6 my computor couldn't read disk, well there was a crack on the outer edge of the finale steps of the game.Contacted seller and now waiting for the replacement,I dont know if the disk was damaged when I got it or maybe I cracked it DiscountKnight said they would replace the disk for me.The game is not an action pack game but a search for clues game I've enjoyed it,I just want to finish it.I ordered the next one as a gift for my Wife, she got me into the Gabe games. Looking foward to get into the next one.

unplayable on Windows 7, or at least I have yet to figure out how. The game however is fun and original as I remember it from 20 years ago

I believe that I would have loved this game. However, the package I was sent did not run under Windows 7 and so I could not play it.

I just recently was able to play this game for the first time since I bought it back in the early 90's. Fortunately, I was able to find a program created by this gamer over in Italy, of all places, who has spent his free time creating patches for this particular game. There are 2 programs - one that just allows you to play the game on later Windows platforms (since the game came out before Windows 95 was even around) & one program that also allows you to save all 6 discs on your hard drive (rather than putting each in to play & can make the game run slowly) or to create one dvd for the whole game. There is also a download to make the first game, Sins of the Fathers, playable as well.It was an extremely easy download & I was able to play the whole game through with no flaws or errors with Windows XP. I was so happy, because I love the Gabriel Knight series. All these years later I had just as much fun playing as the first time.So, if you have either of the 2 older games, or are considering buying them, the website with the downloads can be found at [...] (found info on a message board at [...] way you can enjoy the games for many years to come. I think Beast Within holds up particularly well after all these years.

This game changed my life. I played it while active duty Marine Corps and I had the choice to do presidential duty or embassy duty. After getting engrossed in this story, which was extremely easy and pleasurable the entire way through, I went on embassy duty to Germany just so I could see the locations in the game. Jane Jensen is a saint.

This was an interesting mystery game that proceed to get more and more creepy as I went along..They just don't make game stories like this anymore, where you actually feel like you are a part of the story as opposed to having some story shoved down your throat...I miss the integrity the Gabriel Knight mysteries used to provide, in fact I just plain miss old school adventure gaming in general...

The second installment in the Gabriel Knight series shines as one of the most intriguing werewolf stories ever told. The creator, Jane Jenson, molds real history and engaging fiction all into this masterpiece. If you like mystery, romance, adventure, and suspense. This is the game for you!

I loved this game and the box that I got was in great condition! There is a lot of stuff to look through in the box as well and this is a really awesome game!
