Wow! This is quite possibly the best smart phone ever made.
I have had this phone for about one week now and could not be happier. This is literally the best smart phone I've ever owned. It could very well be the category killer that the BlackBerry was, then the iPhone.Let's start with what's new. Obviously, the form factor. Folded up, the phone fits in any pocket. Wear jeans? You will no longer have to choose between your phone slipping out of your back pocket or fitting uncomfortably in the front. Phone cases will be a thing of the past, as the clamshell design provides all the protection you need. When closed, you still have access to notifications, your camera, clockface, and more. You will also have a brand new way of using your phone in its "laptop" configuration. Serving as its own stand, you can set your phone on the desk at the perfectly readable angle. What's the same? Samsung's state of the art technology. Professional camera controls that Apple can't emulate. Crystal clear display. Power sharing. When paired with the BlackBerry Launcher, you will have unparalleled power and organization at your fingertips. (iPhone users are stunned when they see my phone in operation). Samsung has retained the fingerprint sensor, moving it from the display to the power button. Great move and still the best way to open your phone when stuck with a mask on. The facial recognition has also improved, so when you aren't wearing a mask, the phone usually opens almost immediately when you open the cover.Where are the compromises? I have only noticed two. The battery is smaller (by about 20%). I have Qi chargers all over my house and office, and I have a pretty good habit of putting my phone on one when not in use. If you're still plugging in to charge, you may need to find a different way to manage your charge. (Hint: I keep my old, fully-charged S20 in my backpack and can use that to power share, if needed). Also, there are only two camera lenses instead of three. If you regularly flip between all three lenses, you may feel constrained.

I wanted to love this phone
Now step back. At first, based on my headline, you would think that I am about to bash on this phone. Well, I am but first I wanted to talk about what did I love about this phone.First, of course, is its foldable screen. Now I will say that this is purely, beyond a shadow of a doubt, a gimmick. It doesn't make the phone better. It doesn't make it faster. It's 100% just to have a foldable phone. That said, it does drastically reduce the size that it takes inside your pocket. Not to mention its sleek design given off by the smooth surface of the outside. This is quite a beautiful phone.HOWEVER, I have doubts that this phone had gone through much testing or that this technology is not ready for such daily use as not even a year later; To no one's surprise (I guess besides my own), the phone's lower half screen had completely turned a solid color. A whole grand down the drain. There was nothing I could do.Sure the amount of personalization was cool. Having a smaller screen on the outside when folded to see notifications without having to open the phone was neat. It even lets you add pictures or even gifs onto it which was insanely cool.Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is that this phone is a gamble. Unless you're one of those sheeple who buy a new phone every time one of these phone companies breath, I suggest you look for a cheaper alternative.Quite the shame too, as this was probably my favorite Galaxy phone and I have been a Galaxy connoisseur for almost a decade now.

UPDATE 11/18/2024 It's rubbish , tossed away $27/mo for a paperweight.
UPDATE 11/18/2024 34 months later,1 of the 2 Flip phones I purchased ($960 / each) has totally died. Black screen upon opening after it is started, BIT to start it requires the AC power cable to be attached. From the Internet, it appears this is a "common" defect. In my case, 1 dead phone, $960 wasted ($320/year or $27/month). Not only is the build quality poor, but Samsung's response is "It's old,. but a new one" (the latest models also have this defect). Never again, Samsung.===================================================================Original post:The only reason I purchased this phone was for the convenience of being able to place it in a pocket - far easier than the normal 6+ inch long flat device. Battery life is more than adequate for my use - no gaming, no video, etc. There are 2 batteries in this phone with a total rating of 4,082 mA (approximately 4.1 Amps). There is one significant problem with the phone: The documentation (instruction manual) is quite incomplete. It fails to provide details about how to answer an incoming call. . .you'd think this is silly, but you're wrong! The problem arises when a call arrives and illuminates the entire opened screen, whereupon a green button appears in the lower left corner. IF the Advanced Access menu has been set to 'answer with a tap' simply tap. BUT the default is touch & swipe towards the upper right corner. A feature ONLY Samsung has and their manual and the top level 'tech support' are not aware of (I spent 45 minutes with the Samsung guy who declared the phone "defective" ) .A 5 star rating IF Samsung would have documented the phone completely OR had well trained tech support.UPDATE - After 1 month's use: No noticeable crease line at the fold. After setting I adjusted the following: Black screen with white letters / number (this becomes normal when viewing a video) , Maximum battery charge 85% (to provide longer battery life), Disconnect Magnetic charge, Disconnect High speed wired charge. I view only short videos. Talk time per day is 1-2 hours. At the close of the day battery falls from 84% to 40-50%. A very good specialty phone; unless one feels the need for a pocket sized full function smartphone, less expensive options are available.
