Made from organic corn, not birch… xylitol is harmful to ‘pets’
I was a little surprised to find that this was made from corn as opposed to birch. It was always my understanding that xylitol was birch sugar. This one is made from organic corn.. it taste just the same to me equal and quality and taste, and of course, as always an excellent alternative to sugar. Be mindful it can be deadly to dogs and the labeling that’s harmful to pets, not just dogs.

Well worth it
Really good price came super quick and it doesn't have a funky aftertaste and it's definitely beats using cane sugar

Tastes just like regular sugar and has excellent metabolic and dental benefits.
To me it tastes just like sugar with no aftertaste like all of the imitation sugars on the market, and is much better for your metabolism than table sugar. I bought it mostly for the dental benefits and will dissolve a tsp of it in my mouth and swish it around for a few minutes in the morning and evening. If you don't know about the dental benefits, I would encourage you to research it. I also put a tsp in my green tea each day and it tastes great!

Best $$/lb I've found
Xylitol is awesome because it's natural, tastes good(not sickeningly sweet, not chemically, no aftertaste), glycemic index of nearly zero, less calories than sugar, and there are potentially some health and dental benefits. Personal anecdote/success story: The old A1C was creeping up there a bit. I eat healthy, don't have a sweet tooth, almost zero premade/processed foods, what's going on?!? I realized that most days, the first calories I get in the morning are the spoonful of sugar I put in my coffee or tea. Switched to xylitol for a few months, presto the A1C is back where it should be. This 15lb bag is good stuff, and the best $$/lb I've found. If you're just trying it out, start with a smaller bag in case you don't like it. Once you know you'll like it, this bulk bag is the best way to buy. Edit 3/4/19: If you're not used to this stuff, it DOES have some laxative effect! Dosage varies with person. I didn't notice anything with a spoonful per day in my coffee, but when my girlfriend made an apple pie with it we wound up eating WAY more xylitol in one shot than we normally would have. Oh my, that's not a lesson that will need to be learned again. I'd built up some immunity with my daily consumption in coffee, so the effect for me was "only" awe inspiring amounts of gas. I think I even impressed the dog. My poor girlfriend had no immunity at all and spent several hours in the bathroom. STILL five stars, as it normally doesn't do that and all the other non-sugar sweeteners I've tried have been artificial chemically obnoxious garbage, inedible.

Best Sugar Substitute!
Xylitol is naturally derived from plants (usually Birch tree or corn) with a unique structure that works against bacteria. It is granulated and really looks like sugar. It is by far the best tasting sugar substitute available! It substitutes as a 1:1 ratio with sugar. It helps keep a neutral pH in the mouth and prevents bacteria from sticking to teeth. Both of these factors protect from tooth decay. Since bacteria cannot digest xylitol, their growth is greatly reduced. The number of acid-producing Bacteria can fall as much as 90%. Xylitol produces its own biofilm that helps prevent bacteria from making their own biofilm and sticking to your teeth and forming plaque. Xylitol reduces the levels of microorganisms that cause plaque by disrupting their energy production processes. It reduces the adhesion of these microorganisms to the teeth surface. Tooth decay happens when these bacteria consume the sugars we eat and produce acid. They form colonies under a biofilm (plaque) that keep them safe. Saliva is usually enough to repair early cavities if sugar is only consumed a couple of times a day. Since most people consume sugar several times a day, the mouth’s defenses are not enough. Research has shown that Xylitol biofilm also helps to remineralize deeper layers of enamel by binding with calcium. Fluoride can only remineralize the outer layer. Combining the two should lead to complete remineralization. Saliva with xylitol is also more alkaline and plaque pH rises as well. When pH is above 7, calcium and phosphate salts in saliva move into the weak parts of the enamel. The soft, calcium-deficient enamel then begins to harden. Canker sores happen when a bacterial biofilm is pressed into a dehydrated mucous membrane, isolating it from the reach of saliva. Since Xylitol can help dissolve this biofilm, it can also help canker sores.
