Deep Watering Spikes - 24-Inch - Pack of 5

I don't like the two holes at the top. I'm not using a drip system. This are for large root ball more mature trees. 36" would even be better but these are working fine .I use a funnel and slowly put in about 5 gallons of water 2x a week.3 stakes per tree at the root line. Everything is finally taking off. Before when I was water the ground everything was dying b/c of the extreme heat this summer. Now all is saved!

Will order more for my young fruit and nut trees. Easy to install, bought a auger for my cordless drill and bored the holes. Once a weak i fill them up when i water the surface near the trees. Trees are looking healthier. Now i only have one spike per tree but will eventually add one more tree.

Working great in our very hard and Rocky Southern Arizona soil to get good water down to the root system of several fruit trees.

Have installed them around trees, remains to be seen how well they work. Are well designed and sturdy.

I stumbled across these at my local hardware store, and my trees have never been happier. We've had one tree in particular which has had rather disappointing growth since we planted it 8 or so years ago. Within 2-3 months of installing 2 of these watering spikes around the tree it had added probably 30% to it's height, was fuller, and the leaves look very green and healthy.Upon seeing this result I immediately installed 2 spikes around 3 other trees that had been planted within the past year. All 3 of those trees now look very strong and healthy.Perhaps just as important as ensuring your trees get a sufficient water supply is ensuring that their roots don't want to hang out on the surface of the ground looking for their water. Even though these are only 24" long, I feel this gives the roots a nice start in the right direction. The bonus is that none of your water should run off into the gutter or evaporate. I call this a win/win.Some usage tips:- Use a good sledgehammer to pound these down with, and take your time pounding them in with fairly light blows.- If the ground is too hard to make much progress, soften it with some water and return later for more pounding- Get some good adjustable multi-stream emitters to place into the stake so you can dial in just the right amount of water flowAs for durability, I haven't had these spikes long enough to comment. They are solid enough to withstand getting pounded into pretty hard ground without cracking, but they are plastic after all, so I'm not planning on them lasting more than 10 or so years.
