light duty - but very handy
This is light duty stuff for sure - but very handy if that’s what you want.About the blower:This is very nice to have and will do a quick clean up of a small driveway or dust out a garage floor without blowing things off the wall. I’m able to use this to clean up clippings, etc. very quickly when I would otherwise be too lazy to bother because of the hassle. My plug-in blower has too much power for the garage but will still be great for piling up fall leaves in the yard, so I guess I’ll need to keep two blowers:) There is an older model of this B&D blower being sold on Amazon that looks like a big orange doughnut but it has even less air power than this one so i would suggest you stay away from that.About the trimmer:The trimmer is very good for light edging around a patio or bushes. The auto string feed seems to work pretty well. I’ve had bump-feed trimmers in the past that scalped a circle in the lawn every time I bumped them. This is much nicer. The handle flips around for sidewalk edging but again this is only light duty so it probably won't be very effective unless you have a well established trench. I used to have a gas powered trimmer once that was strong enough to cut it’s own trench in the ground. This won’t do that at all - so don’t expect it.About batteries -The battery in the box was an LBXR20 1.5A 30W. To test battery life I ran the blower non-stop from full charge until it stopped on it’s own - a whole 11 minutes later. If you use a higher capacity battery you will get more life. I later purchased an LBXR20 2A 40W that gives it about 15 minutes run time. This doesn’t seem like much but keep in mind that this is full on non-stop running, not intermittent use like you will do in normal life. This is really plenty for what I need as my garage takes about two minutes and the driveway maybe five. All of the 20VMax batteries are interchangeable so if you’re going to pick up a spare you might as well avoid the 1.5A and get a 2.0A or 2.5A with more capacity as they are all about the same price on Amazon anyway. My spare battery is a generic one and it seems to work just fine. You don’t need to spend the extra money on B&D OEM.By the way I’m posting this review on the new Combo Kit as well to try to help other shoppers but I actually bought a used one from Amazon. It wasn’t packaged very nicely but all the parts were there and it runs just fine. So check out the used ones before you order and you might save yourself some money. All in all I’m pretty happy with these toys. It’s nice to be able to do a quick clean up without having to mess with gas or cords. Hope you find this review helpful and good luck with your trimmer/blower combo.

Good lawn care tools at a good price!
Hey Everyone, this little lawn care tool package is a great deal if you consider the following:Packaging:The weed whacker and blower were packaged in a Black & Decker box, that one would expect to see in a big box or home improvement store. Inside the box both tools were secured and packed in place with plenty of cardboard inserts to hold them securely in place for shipment. This box was packed into a larger Amazon shipping box and secured with packing filler, so the box would be held in place and secured a bit more during shipping. So, this package was packed well and shipping was very fast, if memory serves, this package arrived early by one day!Product:Since I don't have a large lawn(takes approximately 2 hours for front and back with bagging of grass and weed whacking and blowing) this lawn combo kits serves my purpose well. I was very surprised by the strength of the blower, it performed well and was light weight, for me. I was used to a much heavier, more powerful blower. In my opinion, this package is nowhere near suitable for commercial usage, because of battery life and lack of power. However, small to medium lawn care would be ideal for this combo. I especially like the light weight of the blower, with battery attached to unit, I was able to sweep blower from side to side effortlessly, which may come in handy for someone who is in need of such lightweight equipment. The weed whacker, I also found to be lightweight with the battery attached, was very surprising to me in it's functionality. While I only use this weed whacker to trim grass and weeds, not as an edger, I was happy with its' performance. The shaft is expandable to allow it to be set for the users' height. This was a nice feature for me, since I'm 6'2" tall and I found it to be very easy to use. This unit is self feeding, so no more bumping on the ground to feed the line, which was appealing to me. I did read the directions prior to use, so I found out that it is advisable to protect the head, the part that spins and trims the weeds, and prevent it from contacting the ground. With this in mind, using the trimmer I was able to accomplish my yard work with no problems. The cons of this combo kit/package:This kit worked well for me, but that is because my lawn is pretty well maintained to begin with. If there are large stalk weeds or dense overgrowth of grass, it is more than likely that both of these units will struggle if not be unable to cut or blow heavy matted clumps of grass. I found that the only disadvantage of this kit was the battery life. It gave me approximately 20 to 30 mins of peak usage before I discovered the equipment begin to ramp down in power. I was able to use both pieces of equipment, and noticed the decrease in power of both units as battery life began to trickle away. So I decided to charge the battery while I cut my lawn. I began the charging process while I was able to cut both front and back yards and the battery was still indicating that it was charging. This is a good indication that it will take a substantial amount of time to achieve a full charge before using again. So, in other words, I will be contemplating purchase of ATLEAST one more battery but more likely 2 more batteries so I will have more freedom of use with these tools.

Light weight, easy to use
I'm in my mid 70's with arthritis. I bought the combo weed whacker and left blower.I've used both tools and couldn't be happier. The weed whacker chops down all but the largest weeds, the kind with 1" stalks. The leaf blower is perfect for the patio and garage, so lightweight!I have a fairly large yard with a hill.I also want to thank all the reviewers who offered tips about running the whacker continuously to avoid wasting line, etc. I did the hill (front and back) a large side yard, side front yard and still have plenty of line left. I had an embarrassing amount of weeds, the rattlesnakes will have to find a different hiding place.I'm going to order a another battery and more line. In just a few hours my yard/hill already looks better. One year later: My weed whacker and blower are still working well. I'm very happy with the weed whacker, so easy to use. The leaf blower is perfect for the garage and light use but it's not powerful enough for a large amount of leaves. I'm fine with that as I have another leaf blower that's quite powerful but it's too much to use in the garage.
