The Fox

Sexual tension abounds
I stumbled upon “The Fox” when it was shown on TV, not knowing a thing about it. My first impression was of the extreme sexual tension the author established between the three main characters. I was fascinated by “Marsh”, found her very sexy (even though she doesn’t flaunt it) and had a weird feeling about her inability to kill the fox when she had a chance to do so. I was also taken aback when she suddenly appears in a very attractive, red frock and goes off to make love with the male protagonist. This movie will give you a psychological jolt, one way or another. The fox and the man are both predators as they prey on the weaker. in a movie that you can watch more than once if you don’t get depressed with the cold and rainy Canadian weather. If you are an optimist you know the rain will end, the sun will come out, and the man and woman will find happiness in their life together. But the character played by Sandy Dennis, what will become of her?

A trip back in memories
I've seen this movie way back. It was not 'okay' to have a public movie pro-Lesbian then. Still it was a lovely showing of depth of love and we had crushes back then. Great acting.

This movie was my personal epiphany! So glad to have this memento on DVD!
That's right...epiphany. Don't forget, back in the '60's we didn't have gay clubs in high school or characters like Will and Jack on "Will and Grace," or Arizona and Callie on "Grey's Anatomy." We had Shirley MacLaine hanging herself after falling in love with Audrey Hepburn in the "Children's Hour." It's true that the character of Jill in "The Fox" does off herself at the end by standing under a tree she knew was going to fall on her, BUT before that part happens there are some delirious (ummm, that's spelled very much like delicious) kissing scenes. And even though there is no nudity, the blouse unbuttoning scene is the most erotic movie scene I in my memory. You know, it's really true...sometimes less is more.If you're a Sandy Dennis fan, you will definitely want to add this gem to your collection. She is without a doubt one of Hollywood's best finds...and so sad she is gone. She made this film just after she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as Honey in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe."

A groundbreaking film 43 years ago and still enjoyable today.
I remember seeing this unique, interesting and well made love story way back in 1968(at the age of 17)in a small neighborhood theater. The performances by the three main characters are strong and after watching it for only the 2nd time last night I'm certainly pleased because it was definitely well worth the wait. There is a very sexually provocative scene that I recall seeing from my initial viewing and I remember it being the first time I'd ever viewed anything so sexually explicit in a movie. Surprisingly the movie was only a tiny bit dated(to be expected after 43 years)and the subject matter still very powerful. The late actress Sandy Dennis gives the strongest performance of the three. If you are on the fence as to whether or not this movie is worth a look in my opinion it most certainly is. I'll most likely be watching it again very soon--really good movies never go out of style.

Beautiful Video!
Don't be put off by the longer wait for this video; mine actually arrived much earlier than originally scheduled. The audio and visual components of this video are excellent. Truly a beautiful movie that I haven't seen in over 45 years! I am very satisfied with my purchase, and I wouldn't hesitate to wait a little longer for any quality videos in the future.

Between Ellen and Jill came Paul!
Great acting by Sandy Dennis, Keir Dullea and Anne Heywood. Great story line, excellent cinematography and sound. Way before its time, a must watch on a rainy and cold day.

fair flick
Seen better and worse DH Lawrence adaptations. The problem I have with the film is that it is a rather unconvincing situation. The viewer can come into the movie 10 min late and know immediately that they are two lesbians in the woods, but the man can't figure it out after spending the whole evening with them????????? But I was a big Kier Dullea fan (a year after 2001 - also David and Lisa and Bunny Lake is Missing). Sandy Dennis always puts in a good show.
