Unsmiling Faces: How Preschools Can Heal 2nd Edition

This is one of my all time favorite books out of all the child development books I have read. I love how the written language is easy to follow, the stories very relatable and real life. The examples given are excellent and applicable. This book was used for my Child Development: Mental Health Seminar and I really enjoyed reading the book for the course. At the end of the book there are suggested curriculum activities, books and ways to talk to children about certain situations such as : missing their mom, being gentle, using your words and not your hands and many more helpful advice if you want to pursue a career in children. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about child development or majoring in Child Development. I cannot find any fault within this book at all.

A must for any early childhood educator whoseriously takes their young student's emotional well-being. Koplow and contributors give clear, understandable overview of key mental health concepts,learning, and practical interventions to address trauma in the young child's life,life issues and developmental issues that impact on a child's learning and social-emoiotnal development. This book should be in every preschool/Head Start program library and made required reading for early childhood professionals. I use this book and direct staff to read excerpts as part of their staff training.

This book has been very helpful for the classroom

It is a great book. Glad I got a used one as it has extra notes included. It showed up well before my class starting.

Lesley Koplow's explanation of the need for and how early childhood providers can implement a therapeutic approach in classroms and therapies is a must read for everyone working with young children.

Really enjoyed reading this book for one of my courses. Glad I get to keep it!! Will definitely be rereading again!!

May as well have been new. :) I have loved reading this book for my EDUC class. It is very well written and is easy to read.
