Very Happy
Excited to finally get my hands on this after a long time of chasing it down only to be out of stock. Delivery was on time and the book in excellent condition. Beautiful images as you would expect from Mr. Deakins and the overall quality of the book is very nice.

Bent corners
A bit disappointed to receive a brand new coffee table book that looks like it has been dropped.

Beautifully printed, but arrived damaged
Beautiful reproductions and print quality, but arrived with a 6 inch tear down the spine after 6 months of waiting. Returning and exchanging now. Not sure why this was shipped with such an obviously visible tear, although it could have happened in transit?

Pages were badly misprinted. Shockingly amateur mistakes by the publisher.
After waiting half a year for the book to arrive (preordered), I was massively let down. After page 145, instead of having the last 14 pages, my copy has reprinted pages 18-31 mixed with 145-159. One of the pages also has a dark smear on it. There is some damage on the spine. Really poor job by the publisher, and I cannot recommend purchasing this book. Very disappointed.

Beautiful book. A gift to my filmmaker son.
It's a brilliant collection of photographs and the recipient loved it - sat down and spent the rest of the day reading it.

Deakins is a genius of light.
The man knows his craft and is at the top of his game.Given the opportunity to see some of his personal work, not under the direction of others is not an opportunity I'll easily pass up.Book is well constructed.

A nicely put together book but the work rarely reaches the great heights that I would have hoped.
Roger Deakins may well be the greatest cinematographer of all time. His cinematography and use of light is clever, interesting and often dynamic. Sadly, cannot quite say the same for much of this book. The book, itself is very nice, feeling nicely made and using good materials. My first issue comes with the presentation. Many of the images are in landscape, but the book is presented in portrait. This means that many of the images are very small on the page, with very little going on for much of the page. There are times when 4 images are presented on the page but I really would have liked to see a different aspect ratio for the book.As for the photography. There is nothing wrong with it, it is competently shot and the later work feels much more accomplished than his earlier work. But for me, it rarely has the dynamisms or flare of his film work and when compared to some of the great documentary photographers such as Graham Killip or Alex Webb, it just can't compare.I really want to love this book, it nicely documents his work but it misses something which would take it to another level.

Deakins' album: scratched but awesome
The delivery was fast, but despite being allegidly new the cover of the book was scratched, damaged. The book is awesome. Some of the images are double paged, which is a little bit disappointing and there is no information about the details of the camera.
