I have a one year old and a three year old and if you have kids like me having an ear thermometer is a must. So, when my ear thermometer died it was time to find a new one. I decided to try this digital infrared ear thermometer at the recommendation of a friend. Well the best feature that I liked about this ear thermometer is the length and narrowness of the ear piece, because of its length and narrowness it is easy to place inside the ear canal of your baby. This is good because the deeper it can go (safely of course) the better and more accurate the reading is going to be. What's also nice about this digital ear thermometer is it is easy to handle and quite simple to use. It can read Celsius as well as Fahrenheit if you prefer one unit over the other. We needed a new thermometer that read more accurately than the behind-the-ear version we have now. Our son has had two febrile seizures and it was very important to us to find a thermometer that reads correctly without always having to go the rectal route, which is so invasive to a toddler.We bought this one because after researching and reading reviews on a lot of different thermometer brands and kinds, it seemed like it had a silent potential to be a good choice. It's not flashy like a lot of the brands out there, but we are very happy with it so far. Our son has had two fevers since we bought this and we were able to compare readings to our old thermometer (which tends to jump all over the place), and it was a relief to finally have one at home that we feel works.The readings varied a tiny bit, to a few tenths of a degree, which makes me feel confident that we are at least reading in the true temperature range. It's much smaller in size than our old one, easier to pack and travel with, and it only takes a quick swab with a little alcohol to clean it, instead of disposable tips. The company sent 2 emails after purchase with helpful tips for accurate use, which we really appreciated. It is simple to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius, and turning the machine off between readings is actually less annoying than waiting the 9 seconds for it to clear on our old thermometer.All-in-all, we went into this purchase with very high hopes and no expectations, and this turned out to be exactly the right choice for our family.

I purchased this for one of my staff teachers in the preschool where I work. She loves it because it is small, quick, and easy to use and our nurse consultant agreed as well. I also love the fact that we don't need to keep buying thermometer covers for it. We just clean it thoroughly with alcohol prep pads between uses. Very pleased with our purchase!Addendum: We started having problems as described by others of inconsistent and very low readings. I cleaned the tip of the thermometer with a q-tip and the problem was solved. Make sure that there are no tiny specks of debris in the very lens and it works great!

I am extremely happy with this purchase. This thermometer is easy to use, and the smaller size allows me to keep it in a drawer of my nightstand. It is also highly accurate. My normal temperature is 97.8, and the first time I tested the thermometer, that's the exact reading I received. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone that wants an ear thermometer. I would also like to commend Zigabob's customer service - I received a follow-up email from the company before I had even received the thermometer, and two other emails, with great usage tips, after the package was delivered. it reads ear wax temp and gives a much lower reading. it's totally off from the oral one, so I stopped using it.

I usually run a low temperature, but this thermometer consistently gives me readings in the 95.2 range when I'm feeling feverish. I really like the concept and the convenience of this product, but have to give a low rating due to being unable to rely on it for accuracy.

Works just as promise I have not had much problems with it, The design could be better and the ear insert could had been a bit thinner or curb for easier insertion. I recommend pulling the top off your ear a bit to allow for perfect insertion.

I think infrared thermometers are hit or miss. The same one might work for you and not your spouse. This didn't work for my wife. However, their service is great so they get three stars for that alone.
