Works. Great Value for the light.
1ST REVIEW!!!!!Purchased another 165w light, then this one.Side by side the differences are this one does not have a protective lense to keep the leds from being damaged, although im sure it will take years of salt to make the difference.Second, this one has a timer, that after some confusion was easy to use and maintain.Third, It does what i need it to. The corals are responding nicely. Although zoas are not liking the new light. LPS loving it and SPS loving it.Have mounted about 18" above tank. Will update with any new discoveries.

Not all black boxes are the same and I can say this one is one of the best. Colors are put in perfect recommended ratio
Everything is as describes. I think it is really important thing to remember here that this is a relativly cheap reef light and that It deserves to be rated considering that. For a cheap light it preforms really well. Not all black boxes are the same and I can say this one is one of the best. Colors are put in perfect recommended ratio, even though I would personally prefere it without greens and reds. It has almost all nm needed for good coral colors and growth.Build quality is also decent, and as I expected. Please dont compare it to the maxspect razors or even more expensive lights. Their price tag is as much as 10x more than this one so of course the build qualitu doesnt mach. But its decent. Box is a bit heavier than I expected but is also quite sturdy. As far as design goes you either like it or not. You have the picture so you know what you are buying. No surprises there. I got myself a custom built 100 gallon rimless tank with low iron ultra clear glass with custom made cabinet and I think that this light maches and fits in overall estetics. Might be just a thiny little bit bulkier but thats fine. Once the thank is full of fish and corals you dont even pay attention to it.Programing is quite easy and again it has no moonlight, sunrise and sunset options. I am a bit old school when it commes to fancy options so I dont need them. If you are a tech geek buy a tablet and play with options. This can turn on 2 channels separately, and if you have more boxes over your tank like i do, you can set channels to switch on at different times and create the sunrise. It is not as fancy as sunrise on other more expensive lights, but again, it does the job of lighting the tank without shocking your fish. Just remember that T5 usually has no dimming but it was and still is number one lighting choice for a reef tank. Sunrise, storms and other options are added much later probably to impress your friends who are not even in the hobby. For those people who are not 15 year olds this isnt a deal breaker. Also, fans are always on when the lights are on, and they are not super quiet, but not too loud either. All you hear is the sound of air comming in and out of the box.

Superior to the Older Generation Black Box LEDs
I bought 2 of these for my 80 gallon shallow reef tank. I used to have 2 of the older first generation black box lights, that went out after 2 years. These are by far superior, and I can tell a difference in my corals. The light is much more evenly spaced and the LEDs appear to be higher quality than older black box LED lights. The lights are very powerful and I have them set at 50% blues and 25% whites at about 14 inches above the water. There is still a ton of light hitting my tank. Don't be foolish and set them at 100% or you will bleach your corals. It is easy to program with the instructions they give you. One controller can control both fixtures. You just have to make sure it is pointed at the right fixture. I was fairly close to each one when I was programming it. I am giving it 5 stars as I am comparing it to other black box lights. For the price, this is one of the best lights you can get. Obviously it doesn't compare to a Radion or a Kessil, but for the price it is a solid introductory reef light.

Best Price for a Reef LED w/ Remote
Just got this in this week for my newly setup 40 gallon breeder reef tank (upgraded from a 29 gal). Straight to the point, i didn't give it 5 stars simply because it can't ramp up the light intensity per hour, nor does it have moon lights. But other than that, the light color is extremely comparable to the Kessel Tuna Blue fixtures. I have this light set up right next to the galaxyhydro light I was using on my 29 gal tank, and there is a significant difference in light color. This one has a more "clearer" blue look to it, as I mentioned similar to the Kessels. These lights/optics are extremely more powerful! Be careful! They say to start both channels at 25%, but I have my blues at 20% and whites at 1% and my corals are loving it. I will give update after a month or two.

Nice Lighting
Beautiful and wide range of lighting, getting plants to grow in a 34" deep planted aquarium. Quiet exhaust fans, stays cool. My only negative (holding back one star): The programming is not user friendly, and I actually have not been able to reset my original program. Every time I think I have my new program set, it defaults to the original program. A bit frustrating.

Received Exactly what was advertised!
I have two Saltwater fish tanks; needed this light fixture. My tanks look awesome. My tank almost looks as good as what is shown on the Tank Show. As a matter of fact... with this lighting my real corals are beautiful!

overall i've been very pleased with the light function as well as the look ...
no instructions included, but only a few minutes needed to understand the timer setup and get things scheduled. overall i've been very pleased with the light function as well as the look of the unit.Update: instructions were included, but somehow they managed to "hide" themselves from me until recently.I've had the product installed for a couple of months and am really enjoying it. My corals appear to enjoy the light too - they look much better than they did in the past. Has definitely improved the appearance of my tank by far!
