Lizzie! Hardcover – Illustrated, April 29, 2014

I loved the book.

Lizzie ended up in a wheelchair because of a diving accident. Many of her friends deserted her, but one friend--who has since moved away but comes to visit--and a new boy who is also handicapped, are still close. SHe discovers monkeys that someone has illegally hidden in a shack, and she and her friends try to figure out what happened.I really like the depth of Lizzie's thoughts and how well the author spelled them out. There are very few bad words; there is a lot of swearing as in "I cross my heart and hope to die" or "I swear that I mean it." A man is also murdered in the story and Lizzie helps discover who slit his throat.I think I would want a different cover on the book. Something to attract readers. Something bright and kiddish, not so adultish. I also wish the page numbers were not in red, as I use them a lot and am used to looking for black numbers.It's a great story. Personally, I wish the murder wasn't there, but otherwise it's good.
