A long-time staple I finally bought in bulk
I’ve used Dr. Bronner’s sugar soap for years and finally decided to buy the large jug — and I’m glad I did. It has a silky feel, cleans well, and doesn’t leave skin feeling stripped or dry. What I really love is how multipurpose it is. We use it for hand washing, body washing, and even as a gentle shampoo. It’s hydrating, non-toxic, and easy to use daily without overthinking ingredients. A little truly goes a long way, which makes the larger size especially worth it. It’s one of those simple, reliable products that earns its place in the house because it works for so many things.

Great soap for handwashing even if expensive.
I love this for hand soap and have used it in my house for years. It is super expensive, but it has the best balance of getting the grime off but not drying out your hands, and smelling good. It does tend to gunk up my hand soap dispensers but they are easily flushed out with hot water every month or so. Just wish it was cheaper!

Best soap ever
Had no idea I needed a better soap in my life until I tried this at a friends house. Both the lavender and tea tree lime are fantastic scents that linger on the hands after washing. It’s a little pricey, but after getting used to it, regular soap is ruined for me so I’m stuck in the Dr. Bronners soap loop. I’m Happy to pay extra for the quality and natural ingredients.

Amazing Soap, Frustrating Bottle
Overall, I LOVE this soap. For an all-natural product, it cleans my hair better than any other I've tried—and I’ve tried a lot! It leaves my hair feeling fresh and truly clean. You do need to use a generous amount, but the results are totally worth it. That said, I’m knocking off one star because of the packaging. I’ve purchased this soap multiple times, and every single time it arrives with the pump broken. The pump just seems cheap and doesn't hold up during shipping. I end up having to unscrew the top and pour it out every time, which isn’t ideal—especially in the shower. Despite that annoyance, I keep coming back because the product itself is just that good. I really hope they upgrade the packaging in the future!

Read the instructions; use Dr. Bonner's rinse at a minimum.
I think reviews involving personal care products need to remind readers everyone has a different body chemistry and what might work for one may not for another. Having said that, if you decide to try Dr. Bonner's products, it is very important you read the instructions and follow them. If the product you purchase recommends a companion Dr. Bonner product, I strongly urge you to get it as well. These products seem to be designed to work well together. Also, having tried 3 commercial hair conditioners, they do not necessarily play well with this soap when used as a shampoo. I've always had skin sensitivities to detergents, shampoo, conditioners, soap, etc, since I was an infant. However, about 10 years ago, it blossomed into a full blown allergy. Then about 3 years ago, I also developed an allergy to any products (not just personal care products) which contained perfumes of any kind. My sister brought me a bottle of "Dr. Bronner's Organic Baby Unscented Sugar Soap" to try, having been told it could be used on my hair as well. It worked exceptionally well, but left my hair feeling unpleasant in a number of ways. (Note: NO perfume scents of any kind.) After reading a lot of reviews, I also purchased "Dr. Bonner's Hair Conditioner Rinse - Citrus" and "Dr. Bonner's Organic Hair Creme - Peppermint". I carefully followed the instructions and have found both products do exactly as promised, leaving my hair manageable, clean and nice to the touch. If anything, I think my scalp has even improved in that I no longer see as much flaking. (And for those interested, I've tried every conceivable product designed for scalp itchiness, flakiness, etc. -- none had any effect and most made the problem worse.) I will admit, I was loath to spend more money on a product which didn't state it was scent free. However, these scents don't appear to be artificial and peppermint (the hair creme) and citrus (rinse) not only don't bother me, they even have a nice scent. If I were to guess, though, the scent doesn't last long, since none of my 3 grand daughters (who live with us) have said anything -- they are generally the first to notice because of their concern about my allergies. The basic instructions are to: 1) wash your hair and rinse with water; 2) mix 1 capful of the hair rinse with 8 oz water and pour slowly over your hair to remove your soap/shampoo; 3) towel dry and add hair creme. My steps are a bit more, only because I like to wash my hair twice. (It's a baby boomer thing, folks.) 1) wash my hair with a glycerin soap; 2) wash my hair with Dr. Bonner's baby soap; rinse with water, squeeze out water; 3) rinse my hair with diluted (see above) Dr. Bonner's hair rinse; 4) gently towel dry; 5) using a very, very small amount of hair creme spread across my palms, I gently rub it into a section of hair and repeat for each section. I then use a comb to help evenly disperse the creme. Note: Near as I can tell, I can use either just the glycerin bar soap or just Dr. Bonner's baby soap provided I finish with his rinse and creme. I continue to use the glycerin soap for the first wash because it's quite inexpensive at my local dollar store. I actually prefer Dr. Bonner's baby soap as a shampoo (easier to use), but since I wash my hair twice, this is solely a means to control expenditures. My only complaint: hair cleaning now takes me considerably longer than it did before ... 10 minutes vs 1-2 minutes.

Smells gorgeous, like melted sugar, used for years, no irritation, creamy lather, just lovely. Easy to use pump for children and a little goes a long way. We use for hands and in the bath.
