For those who love horses, you will love this mug. First, an original mug is hand-thrown, trimmed and carved with scenes of running horses in the desert. Then, Mayra made a mold of this original mug. A liquid clay, formulated by Mayra, is poured into the mold. When the clay has dried to leather hard, the mug is taken out of the mold. Then each mug is trimmed and the carving is gone over to bring out the forms. This makes each mug more individual. Finally, a handle is put on. The handle is skilfully pulled and shaped from a lump of clay. A crafted thumb rest is then attached to the handle. Then the mug is glazed in Cobalt glaze, and each horse is painted with Mocha and Tenmoku glazes, making each an individual, and fired in the kiln to 2400 degrees Fahrenheit. This is the highest temperature in the stoneware range making these mugs very durable. The mugs shown here are representative of the shape and glaze of this mug choice. There will be variations in glaze from one mug to the next making each one of a kind yet similar. 5" Height holds 18-20oz Dishwasher safe. These mugs can be used in the microwave, they might become hot.
