A Really Great Western made even better in Blu-Ray format
Lonesome Dove is one of the best Westerns ever made, so I was extremely happy to be able to get this copy in Blu-Ray. It arrived on time and in excellent condition.

Great Christmas gift.
The Lonesome Dove fan was very happy to receive this, and watched it all over the next two days after Christmas.

Amazon quickly corrected problem.
The first package arrived unsealed and totally empty. Something went wrong from the shipping location. When I went to Post Office to pick up the first package I had to refuse it due to the condition just described. It was not damaged, just unsealed and empty!! When I notified Amazon about the situation they immediately re-shipped the package and it arrived just three days later. It arrived in pristine condition. Amazon customer service is the best ever. AND Lonesome Dove is my all time favorite western movie. This Blue Ray set is absolutely splendid. Details in the movie are vivid.

Cream of the crop sagas
I have read Lonesome dove at least 12 times now. I have watched these DVD's way more than that. It is an incredible set that you will treasure for yrs to come. Even tho I come from the John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, Richard Widmark Clint Eastwood etc era ... I find this set to be the very best of my Western collection. I will lend my DVD's out to friends & family from time to time, .... all but this set. NO ONE but me handles my Lonesome Dove's. You'll never regret this purchase if you're a fan of Westerns or Larry McMurtry.

... a choice for "Awesome Read" because "Sayan Knights" looks like it may be another winner for Ms Gardner
There should be a choice for "Awesome Read" because "Sayan Knights" looks like it may be another winner for Ms Gardner. I know her 1929 series were cliff hangers. By the time I finished reading the series, I felt as though, somehow, the family had moved away and I lost track of them. Believe it or not, I actually missed them. Her "Purling Road" series has helped me. LOL I feel an addiction to this author's writings. She is fantastic and has a way of holding your interest. Turning pages to skip the boring parts does not exist with her stories. There is no boring parts. I pray that someone will take note of her stories and make a television series with it. Her stories are so interesting and realistic that you automatically become addicted to them. It is a good read when the characters are so real in it that you actually miss them. "Sayan Knights" is on it's way to being another winner and I can hardly wait to get the entire series of "1929" and "Sayan Knights" in book form for my library of great, want to read again and again books.

Not a complete set of the series
Purchased for intertainment, but it doesn’t have all of the lonesome dove episodes in the series’s. There are actually 5 episodes in the complete series. I had to do some research to find this out. And one of the episodes on this set is not approved by the author of the series.

Epic Movies in one package
This is a great movie set. Lonesome Dove is probably the BEST WESTERN of all time and having four of the five movies in the series (missing Comanche Moon) is great because it takes up less space on my shelves of movies. These movies are well done and filled with drama, action and heart. I highly recommend this set for any Western movie lover! I think it will appeal to both women and men alike.

Lonesome Dove
The original mini series is still as stunning and absorbing as always. The sequels are all well worth a watch too. All in all a great box set.

An Excellent Western and I am a Western fan
I had seen Lonesome Dove when shown on Television to start some years ago. I loved Lonesome Dove and Return to Lonesome Dove and am not sure who I liked best as Woodrow, Tommy Lee Jones or Jon Voight. I managed to find the videos as back then DVDs were not the thing and I watched them often. Eventually came Streets of Laredo and while it was a good movie, it was not as enjoyable to me as the previous 2. I finally did see Dead Man's Walk and I did not enjoy it as much as the other 3 segments. I have not seen it for a number of years so looked forward to watching it once more on a DVD. It did not disappoint me. I have done Lonesome Dove, Return to Lonesome Dove and Streets of Laredo in the past 3 days and left the one I liked the least til last even though it is the beginning. I remember being so surprised the first time I saw Streets of Laredo that brought Lorena back as a married women and who she had wed. The last man in the group I would have expected. I do wish there had been one in between these last 2 that explained how she and Pe got together. I agree with one of the lines I read somewhere describing the movie as a whole in that it is one of the best westerns made. To me it is especially the 2 Lonesome Doves. You need the time to watch each but worth the price and the time.

Good film. Poor sound.
A really enjoyable movie closely based on the excellent novel. A shame the sound mix is so poor.
