Brilliant Editorial Writing
This British writer gets down to the nitty-gritty of the state of English life in inner-city London. As a doctor in a hospital near a slum, he asks the question: Why does the "educational" system fail in the inner city? Why are more and more people going downhill rather than toward upward mobility? It's fascinating--and a lesson for all social services, educational administrations, medical facilities and people who care about the upcoming generations.

Different perspectives
Although I did not agree with some of the key points in this book. It was written well and gave me a different perspective. Some of the points were well made and grounded in experience as opposed to data or theory. If you are open-minded this is a must read.

Eye-opening, shocking and entertaining
Even though so much of what is described in this book seems like madness, it really rings true. I have gained a far deeper understanding of social and cultural decay from reading this book.

wonderful book
Recommended by professor peterson, I wasn't expect anything less than wonderful to read. Amazing insight from the Life of british underclass which is no different from their brothers here in australia.
