Fantastic lens
I had debated getting those lens for quite a while and finally took the plunge, no regrets, I already own the 24-120 & the 180-600, but this is on another level, the photos attached aren’t fantastic but give you an idea at how sharp and how much detail it will pick up, this grasshopper was tiny (2cm aprox) and took handheld on the z8, slap it in front of a tiny spider and you can see his eyes! it takes beautiful photos, its also fantastic for portraits, products and I’m sure has other uses, if you’re on the fence and have been considering this lens, I would say just go for it

A high quality lens a cut above the rest.
By a stroke of extraordinary luck I ordered this lens just before the price went up to eye watering levels. It took a few weeks to arrive but finally it did. What can I say? It exudes quality of construction with smooth operation of all its functions. I'm using it with a Nikon Zfc which I bought bundled with the 18-50 'pancake' lens and the 50-250 zoom. I've never been happy with the latter and it always felt kinda cheap. This lens on the other hand is solidly made. Its a lot chunkier than I thought it would be but thats due to it housing the autofocus which is smooth, quick and accurate. The S in the lens name apparently stands for 'Superior' and its a mark of a better than average Nikon lens.Pictures appear pin sharp and crisp from center to border. Its just gorgeous!

Stunning lens and sharp sharp sharp, I have a few Macro lenses in my collection and owning the Nikon 200 f4 thought it couldn’t get any better, The new 105 is now the king of Macro, absolute stunner

Being light in weight does not hinder its performance.
I have the original version of this lens and now this Z version. Like other lenses in the S range performance is outstanding. Plays well with compatible extension tubes but as others have mentioned the new Z Teleconverters do not fit it. This macros optics just won't allow the intrusion of the TC element, especially as the rear element of this lens almost looks like a bubble and is just shy of the lens mount. The lens is light, very light. I was concerned that I had bought a fake but the new materials are obviously far lighter. I have to say that I am not in favour of using plastics in equipment that may need cleaning. Even a single wipedown using a Clinell surface wipe can turn a plastic surface into a sticky mess. I don't know how this lens would react.I tend to keep the lens in full-range focusing as the limiter has given unexpected results and refusing to focus while within the specified range. The image is exceptional with an undistracting bokeh. Focus speed is better than pedestrian but as this is a macro that's hardly important. I've set the lens function on mine to toggle 100% magnification to check focus. The inbuilt VR can only be set on camera which is a bit annoying. All in all an excellent lens.

Stunning lens
There is nothing to dislike about this lens .The weight the size and the IQ is pretty amazing which it should be given the premium you pay .It makes a fabulous portrait or landscape lens and obviously for macro .I have had mine in my Z6ii and Z7 Iii and so pleased with it .I didn’t get her from Amazon as there was an issue with delivery and I chose to get this elsewhere but nonetheless Ii thin maybe the best lens I have ever owned so far
