Quick, easy, convenient
I'm new to the whole bed-buying experience, but after moving out on my own I felt the desire to overhaul my bedding. Long story short, I ordered a Leesa mattress and ordered a box spring here on Amazon. The Leesa mattress recommends slats be situated 3" apart. According to the description on this product, the slats are about 3.5 inches apart. I could live with that, so I ordered it.I was able to assemble the box spring together together in minutes. There was NO trouble putting it together, compared to other less-starred reviews here, and literally had the box spring put together and on the bed frame in less than half an hour. I will say that the wood could've been sanded down a little more and the instructions looked like they were photocopied from one single copy dated back to 1995. A little hard to read yes, but not really that difficult to figure out, even if you didn't have any instructions. I felt a little mislead by the cover, as I thought that the bottom wouldn't be exposed, but it is. If it bothered me that much, I could buy some more fabric and staple it to enclose the bottom, but its not that big of a deal. Over all, the box spring is sturdy, easy to piece together, and does exactly what its supposed to do. Ordered on Thursday, arrived on Saturday. You could buy a standard foundation or box spring some from sleep store, but you get the same thing with this box spring for a fraction of the price.

Some additional elbow grease and/or innovation may be required
I could have assembled the foundation in 20 minutes if the dowels on one of the side braces had been in the right place. I put all the pieces together according to the directions and then noticed that in one corner the side brace was higher than the head/foot brace so that the foundation was not level. The first thing I did was to flip the braces around to see if it would be level if joined to the other head/foot brace, but that didn't help. Then I thought that the side brace was warped but when I held it down so that it was level with the head/foot brace, the dowels didn't match up with the pre-drilled holes on any of the sides of either head/foot brace. I ended up drilling a new hole for the bolt in that corner in order to get the correct alignment but now the dowels are not in their holes in that corner. However, because everything else fits the way it is supposed to, that corner does not seem significantly weaker. The mattress delivery men complimented me on how sturdy it was for something that I had put together myself.I chose not to exchange it because of time considerations (my new mattress was being delivered soon), I wasn't sure that another foundation wouldn't have a similar/different problem, and I was able to work around the problem. The drill suggested by another reviewer ended up being the most important thing to have. I also found it useful to have a hammer to knock some pieces into/ out of place.I gave four stars based on the price, free shipping to my door, and the final result.

Ultra sturdy with slight modifications
I ordered the queen foundation for a Sleep Innovations memory foam mattress. I'll list all of the things most people might be interested in.Packaging - Decently packaged, nice tough double cardboard (This is from DynastyMattress through Amazon). Nothing was damaged.Wood piece quality - Seems very sturdy but lightweight. There was only one slat that had a small split but it didn't affect the structural integrity. Few to no splinters throughout. What's in the box - 6 wood section pieces. 2 length end supports (rounded edges), 2 width end supports, 1 center support, 1 bound piece of center slats. - The slats are bound together by a tough fabric strip. Also included are 6 bolts (with washers and nuts), 6 screws and easy to follow simple directions. For a queen there are 11 slats and the spacing is anywhere between 4"-4 1/4". That seemed a little far for me but it turned out perfectly fine for my memory foam mattress.I didn't like how the 11 center slats were just to be held in by 6 screws, leaving many feeling loose. This might not be a problem with a mattress on top but I wanted it to be extra sturdy.Modifications - I wanted to screw each of the 11 slats to the edges and center supports. That meant 33 screws. I used the 6 provided and another 26 to do this. IMPORTANT: I drilled holes through the slats before screwing so I wouldn't split the wood.It didn't take too long and I have a ridiculously sturdy foundation now. I would recommend taking this extra step to anyone capable.

So far, so good.
I received my big honkin' box yesterday (sorry, UPS deliveryperson). It is manageable, provided you aren't wrestling it through a door that won't stay open. Construction-wise, this is a solidly-designed foundation that handy people might look at and say, "Oh, I could make this for much less!" Maybe Norm Abrams could, and perhaps I could if I wanted to futz with it for a couple of weeks, but it was awfully nice to be able to cut a couple of straps and stick some carriage bolts in this instead. I am pleased with it - everything goes where it's supposed to, and there are wooden dowels to keep everything lined up. I didn't do any of the additional things other people have done with double-sided tape - all I did was space the three bunkie-type boards with screw holes so they weren't touching the outer rails (there's about 1/4-1/2" total clearance) to avoid squeaking. I figure I can always go back and add it later if I need to. FYI, I was able to screw the top boards down with just a ratcheting manual screwdriver.Oh, and amazon? I am extremely amused by this suggestion for video reviews of this product: "How about a little action? If it makes sense, cut to the product in use as you describe your experiences with it." Bow chicka-chicka bow.
