Fantastic beginners chess set with a cool design. The mini games help teach basic skills without stress and are fun little activities in and of themselves. The puzzle board and cube-shaped pieces are especially neat. The fact that it appears to be made in Germany is an added plus!We will be buying more as gifts.

Probably should have ordered a regular chess set and a book for teaching beginners.

I bought this for my sister-in-law's 7 year old grandson. He loves it. My brother-in-law has been learning it and playing with him. My brother-in-law didn't know how to play chess. He read the direction andsaid that if he had the set in his youth, he would have learned. Both of them found directions easy. It is small and easy to take on trips or in a camper.

1) Very small (travel) board. When moving the pieces you inevitably hit & accidentally move surrounding ones. 2) This game might be ok, or even great for a true beginner, but for us, the little block pieces with PICTURES of the chess pieces, vs real chess pieces/shapes, was not useable for our kiddo. My husband had already been teaching our 5 yo using a book for kids, and the square blocks/pictures didn’t translate well for her.

Although I was disappointed at first, as the parent guide/tutorial was not included in my sealed set, we love this set. My husband began teaching the basics while I contacted the manufacture. They responded immediately and sent us the tutorial. This has been a great set for both my 4 and 6 year olds! The fact that the board is a puzzle is a great way to get everyone into the game.

The learning exercises are well done. Have been working with 6 yr old grandson and it is holding his interest and he's learning.

This game is an excellent set for teaching kids the basics of chess. The individual lessons helped my seven year old understand the basics of chess.

I always wanted to master chess but never really was intrigued enough to pay attention as an adult and learn. THose kids minds are like sponges and this was a really great way to get into the game!

Eine klare Kaufempfehlung gibt’s von mir für Schach Junior. Warum?Mit Schach Junior wird einem ermöglicht seinem Kind die Grundzüge des Schachspiels beizubringen ohne es selbst können zu müssen. Der Vorteil daran: man erlernt es schnell, ob Groß oder Klein.Das Spielbrett besteht aus Puzzleteilen, die robust gefertigt sind und eine gute Größe haben. Die Kinder haben somit schon beim Zusammenbau eine kleine Aufwärmübung. Die Spielfiguren sind mit Symbolen bedruckte Holzwürfel. Es ist praktisch und sehr durchdacht, weil sich die Symbole in der Anleitung wiederfinden. Auch Kinder die noch nicht lesen können, finden schnell heraus was zu tun ist.Der Vorzug dieses Spiels ist die schrittweise Heranführung an das Schachspielen. Die Zugbilder sind anschaulich und die Juniorspiele verständlich und ansprechend aufbereitet. Mit den Bezeichnungen der Juniorspiele wie zb. „Toller Turm“, „Listiger Springer“, „Kluge Könige“ oder „Schneller Läufer“ wird Interesse geweckt. Zudem sind die Spiele kurzweilig und schließen für die Kinder mit Erfolgserlebnissen ab. Die Kids begeistert das!Ein super Spiel!

Je reçois ce jeu et je suis surprise par l'information sur le coffret : "EN et DE" ce que je suppose correspondre à "anglais et allemand" . De plus les explications sur le carton sont dans ces 2 langues.j'hésite à l'ouvrir si la notice n'est pas en français...

The product is very instructive, it makes the learning experience fun and simple. The compact size and modular composition, make it ideal for use at home or out. The use of cubes for the pieces makes it possible to use it even at very early age. The instructions are simple and very clear. Both my daughter and I really enjoyed using it. It has been a great purchase and think it will be something we will use and enjoy for a long time.

I think this is pretty expensive for what you actually get in the box. Saying that it really does the job and my 5 year old is now playing chess.Very happy, but be aware you are paying, in a sense, for lessons as well as what is physically in the box.
