Munsters: The Complete Series [DVD] [Import]

For anyone unfamiliar with the Munsters, this was a 1960s TV comedy series centred around a traditional American family that consisted of a Frankenstein monster as the head of the household (Herman) his vampire wife (Lily) her vampire father (Grandpa) and the young werewolf son (Eddie). There is also a glamorous blonde niece (Marilyn) who is fully human and regarded by the rest of the family as being so unattractive that she has trouble keeping her boyfriends.The Munsters live in a massive creepy old house full of cobwebs with a huge basement that Grandpa regularly uses for his dodgy experiments that usually result in disaster. There is also a dinosaur type creature kept under the stairs (Spot) which is heard but never seen.The running gag throughout the series is that the Munsters believe they are a traditional wholesome American family but most outsiders run a mile when they see them, hence Marlyn's inability to keep her boyfriends.Whilst all of this may sound totally bonkers, it is genuinely funny with some great script writing, slapstick comic timing and an obvious rapport between the cast who, are all quite charming. The 72 episodes run for around 25 minutes each and there is not one hint of smut or innuendo, just well timed traditional comedy that you do not get nowadays.I enjoyed this first time around as a child during the 1960s, but it seems even funner now and I would recommend it to anyone who likes good clean humour that you can watch over and over again.

I remember watching this T.V. series as a young boy during the 1960's. I loved it then and I still love it now. a timeless American T.V. classic. join the Munster family in there daily life as people run away from them in fright!! only one member of the munster family is true human and that is Marilyn. who for some reason members of her family cannot work out why she is so different to them. there's Granpa with his experiments that always seem to go wrong. this is a great show. it is good all clean loving fun to watch. there's no smut, no swearing just good clean monster fun for all to share. it is sad to think that some of the actors who made this show what it was are sadly no longer with us they are:Fred Gwynne Died 1993Yvonne De Carlo Died 2007Al Lewis Died 2006However, we can treasure there golden moments in this box set. it is a must if, you like this kind of comedy that even today is great to watch and somehow has survived through time and is still well received to this day.

This is just the tops. I originally saw the Munsters when i was small child when it originally ran on British TV. I was in awe, these guys and gals were so spooky and gothic (based on universals horror icons at the time, Frankenstiens monster, Dracula, the werewolf). All shot in black and white and this only adds to its appeal, like the original universal films. So yes its a spoof taking the Munsters to be you average American family (not), they think they are tho! Lots and lots of adventures with then all getting up to mischief and lots of tight spots. I am watching these with my young daughter, we laugh out loud and are total fans.There are some great extras on the last disc, a full documentary and individual documentaries on Fred Gwynne, Yvonne DeCarlo and Al Lewis. These dvds are priceless and you get the complete works, get this while its still around totally recommended.

It is beautiful. I love it. The movies come in a georgeous box that makes itself a great decoration. It contains 12 movies, the last one is about how the series was made, it has interviews, a tribute to Fred Gwynne, and the biographies of Fred, Ivonne De Carlo and Al Lewis. A footage in color rarely seen of the pilot made in 1964 before the the series was first aired is also included.All the chapters are remastered extraordinarily and the quality of the DVD's is outstanding, very clear, and excellent sound, even being in black and white, which is how the series was originally filmed.I recommend this DVD's to any Munster's lover or simply if you want to laugh a lot with Herman and the Grandpa adventures.A must for movie collectors.

Excellent dvd took me back to my school days. Where i would have my tea time meal while watching the Munsters.Arrived very quickly, well packed. It did say it had been resealed, and it was £4 .00 cheaper When opened the dvds were all in the wrong pockets .They were lots of dirty finger marks on them. So i cleaned them .The second series had some very fine scratches on the playing sides.So i decided watch all of them to see if they played OK.They did play ok, fine scratches do not normally stop it playing . It took week to see them all..I decided to keep them. They give me so much pleasure to see them again.

this comes in a great casket, love it. this series is brilliant and much better than the adams family. all the episodes are really funny. they are all in black and white which i think makes them evern better and makes them seem spooky. purchase this and you will not be dissapointed, they are a laugh a minute retro comedy.

The Munsters - Closed Casket Complete Collection [DVD]This was a gift for my 2 girl's (13 & 11) for Christmas I thought it would be good to share with then some of thing's I loved to watch as a Kid (Although re-run's even then in the 70's). The box set contains every episode made and re-mastered in the original Black and White, I must say I wasnt sure how they would receive this gift but they loved it and have spent every night since watching them in bed at night.A fantastic purchase and its great to see that even now these Black and White master pieces can still make kids howl with laughter.A small price to pay for some good old fashioned entertainment !!!!!!

I enjoyed The Munsters when I was younger and this complete series brings back a lot of those memories. The show only stayed on 2 seasons but it was fun to watch. If you enjoyed this show when you were younger I think you will still enjoy it!!
