SM-T225 Galaxy Tab A7 Lite: 8.7-Inch Phone and Tablet In One!
Yes - but you need to go through this process which I learned from other reviewers. This particular SM-T225 model runs on Android 11 originally out of the box. The first time you open the phablet (because it is a genuine phone and tablet in one), ensure you don't insert your sim card or connect it to a wifi yet. Be patient and skip all setup processes and go straight to TURN OFF automatic update under developer options and click don't auto-update apps under network preferences in your Google Play Store account. Only after doing those two very important steps you can insert your active sim card and/or connect to wifi. Please be aware that with this particular model, once you forgot to turn off all of the apps/network updates, it will lose all of the phone and text and mobile data functions once it auto-updates to Android 12! I ignored the previous advice from other reviewers then I proved it myself that it turns into a wifi only tablet after updating to Android 12 so I had to return it and buy a new one. Again, yes, in my own experience, I never had to call my AT&T helpline (please don't call them or they will deactivate your sim card asap!), and I just transferred my active (and latest 2022) sim card. And there it is, my Galaxy Tab A7 Lite that runs on AT&T as my 8.7-inch phone, and tablet, with call, text, and mobile data functions under Android 11 - and kept it there for the past seven months and I never had to buy a super expensive Galaxy Folds out there. When the Android 12 pops up to remind me it's time for an update - I just ignore it and click later - always because I want to keep it as a phablet. For me, there's no need to update to Android 12 at all if I will lose its original smartphone functions. And this awesome fast-charging 8.7-inch screen phablet is way better to use than those under 7-inch Android phones if you want a bigger screen with smartphone capabilities at the same time. Yes, there is an earpiece but you can use the wired earphones to the superb 3.5 mm ear jack slot for privacy when making or taking calls. Hope this will help everyone out there - this phablet is highly recommended if you're tight on a budget!

Galaxy Tab purchase
Arrived in a timely fashion but has a few major hiccups. The charger for the tablet is an International or European travel style plug and will not plug into the outlets in our home. Why it has that type of plug is baffling and we are unable to charge the tablet. Why did the tablet not come with a wall outlet adapter? What can be done to correct this problem? We are hopeful a correct plug will be shipped our way. Thank you! Also it keeps saying we need a SIM card and one was not included and therefore we cannot set it up. Help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Slow
So far only two dislikes, it Is a little too slow and it doesn't connect to my Samsung earbuds that I have. Otherwise it works ok

Works great
I use the tablet for GPS in a commercial truck. It works great for that with cellular service.

Avoid!
Worst Samsung product I have ever owned. I have owned a lot of Samsung products over the years... starting with the original Note series. I've owned Samsung smartphones, tablets, and computers. This might be a consideration if it was $50.00. Seriously underpowered and unperforming. It takes ages to open applications or anything else.

Great size, decent performance, BUT HEADS UP to international travelers - NASTY PROBLEM!
Hello all -The Galaxy Tab A7 is one of my favorite tablets. The 8.7" form factor is perfect for putting in ones back pocket or sports jacket inner pocket. Unfortunately, there are very few options in this form factor that have cellular capabilities. The iPad mini is an option, but the iPad mini is just a bit wider than the A7, which prevents one from putting in ones back pocket or sports jacket inner pocket. The performance of the A7 is "adequate" for email, surfing the web, occasional streaming, etc. If you are a gamer or other person that requires blazing fast performance, this is not the tablet for you. This is a utility tablet, and nothing more.HOWEVER, the A7's seem to have one **VERY** nasty problem.I would like to add, that if I didn't experience this first hand, I would not believe it.I have actually owned three of these units, and all three died under the same circumstances - international travel. Please let me continue..The first unit died while I was in Japan. I landed, turned on cellular, plugged it in to charge, and went to sleep. When I woke up, it was a non responsive brick.I did not really think anything of this. Due to the cheap price, I just wrote it off and bought another. The second unit was purchased and back off to Japan I went. I landed, turned on cellular, and connected. All was well for a *FEW* moments. After several minutes the screen started going crazy with various pop ups saying "invalid date / time". This continued on and I frantically tried to shut it down. Unfortunately, I could not shut it down, or disconnect the cell service in time. It also turned into a brick.Lacking any real good options in this form factor, I purchased a third one (the one I am reviewing) and back off to Asia I went.Trying to be a little smarter, I turned off the auto date / time function. I went back off to Japan for three weeks, held my breathe, turned the unit on.All seemed OK and I stayed in Japan for 3 weeks. I then returned back to the USA, and all was well. Six months later, I went to China for several weeks, also, all seemed well. Back to the USA I went assuming I had found the problem (bug) - that is, keep auto / date set to manual.2 months later, I headed back over to China. I landed, turned it on, connected, and all was well... for about 2 hours. After two hours, it went crazy again with "invalid date / time" and I basically watched it turn itself into a brick. I did not check the auto date/time function when I turned it on, but as Android and some APP updates like to impose on a users settings, it is plausible the auto date / time was turned back on without me knowing it.What is the real problem?Who knows - but the common theme is three dead A7's taken out of the country that died suddenly when connecting to cellular in the foreign country.BUYER BEWARE!Again, if this really did not happen to me personally, I would not believe this story.Thank you for reading!!
