Shower walls
Bought this product for our bathtub walls and the product was exactly what we wanted to waterproof the shower.

Schluter's real stingy with the materials but it's convenient getting everything in one package
I bought this kit to do a 32" tub enclosure with waterproofing up to 6' above the tub deck and I found that this kit was just barely enough to do the job. I had just enough Kerdi membrane and not enough Kerdi Band-- I ended up using leftover membrane scraps to make the seal for one of my inside corners. It's fine from a functional standpoint, but the membrane is twice as thick as the Kerdi Band. The kit only comes with one 3/4" pipe seal. I gather that's for the shower head, since the tub spout is only 1/2", but as the instructions say, you can just seal that with the included tube of Kerdi Fix (given that a pipe seal would overlap with the mixing valve seal, this is the route I recommend for the tub spout anyway). I'm not a huge fan of Kerdi Fix, incidentally, it's much tackier than silicone, but I'm sure there's a reason it's somehow superior.I tried pricing out the kit's contents individually here on Amazon, and it comes out to a wash. No real savings (at least on Amazon-- retail prices vary wildly from online) but it is convenient to have it all in one box. Given that the material cost of these kids is negligible, I don't understand why Schluter couldn't be a little more generous with the membrane and the band.In the end, still beats Redgard and cement board, but I spent a full afternoon installing this and had to wait another 24 hours for the thinset to cure to start setting tile. Might be worth springing for the Kerdi Board if you've got the room in the budget.

Not as easy as YT will make you think
I believe this system works well. We had it installed for our MBA a couple of years ago and I thought I'd give it a go on our second BA. Like most people I learned by watching YT and keep in mind, these are experienced people who could probably do this by touch -that's not me. I'm more of a weekend DIY-er. Here's what I learned:Don't try to save time by doing larger sections at a time. It's frustrating and you will either need to redo it or spend longer trying to get things right. If I had to do it again, I'd probably do 1/2 way up the wall with a single strip -not all the way around...maybe a 4'x4' section or 1/2 the back wall rather than tub to ceiling. Get it EVENLY placed -think tile surface, and press harder on the edges where you will be applying Kerdi-Band for the 2 inch overlap. For me, the mortar was drying up a little quicker than expected so that's why I'd do smaller sections. I would also use 1/2 the bag of mortar at a time to give yourself more time to get the membrane installed without the bucket drying out. (You will going slower than the pros) YES it takes longer and requires more work, but you'll save yourself so much aggravation later.Kerdi Fix is very sticky. Wear nitrile gloves. Also get a small trowel for the Kerdi Fix as recommended especially for the tub edge. The consistency of the mortar for putting the Kerdi Membrane is kind of loose. I dripped a lot of it. I had a drop cloth and plastic over the tub. The mortar washes off with water and gentle scrubbing on an acrylic tub so don't panic.I got the cheapest unmodified mortar at the big box store and made it slightly wetter than recommended on the bag as per Schluter's instructions. Needs to hold a notch and stay in place generally. The kit has most of what you need. Does not include trowels. If you are a fellow DIYer, accept the fact that you are not a pro and it may not be 100% perfect or like the person on YT (who does this and similar things really well because that's his/her regular job). Install it to Schluter's instructions and you'll do fine.

Good product, pain in the ass to work with
While I’m quite positive this product is a great waterproofing agent. It is not nearly as easy to install as the videos show and claim it to be. It’s very expensive and not easy to work with at all when dealing with thinset. In all truthfulness has it not had to go over drywall I would have used a cement backer board instead.
