Excellent product & superb warranty service when it quit 11 3/4 months in service.
GFCI technology can save your life in a pinch. This is a well thought out device, and superior to ones I have worn to a frazzle in decades past. My first one of this newer design failed in its eleven month of use. I immediately ordered a replacement because I refuse to put family members at risk using electric yard tools such as hedge trimmers. During that reordering process I noticed that I had purchased the first one during August last year, roughly 51 weeks ago. When the new order arrived I confirmed that the warranty period shown on the paperwork lasts 12 full months. What luck!So I hunted through Amazon's web page for the company's contact info and dropped them a note asking how I might request warranty service. The company was ultra-polite throughout the process. They asked that I furnish the order # and to describe the problem in detail, suggesting pictures or a short video if possible. I did so. They asked if I would like a replacement and I indicated that would be delightful. They arranged for Amazon to send one my way and kept me informed at every step of the process. Bravo!I sent my original email query on Sunday afternoon 20 August. The supplier replied early Monday. I took my sweet time making and sending the 30 second video. Nevertheless, the replacement arrived Friday afternoon on 25 August. Impressive! If you're wondering what's the big deal about GFCI protection, consider this. (By the way, all of my kitchen circuits are GFCI protected.) I routinely stab an English muffin during its last minute in the toaster to see if it is 'just right'. I usually do that with an all-metal knife. I make sure that I do NOT touch the red hot Ni-chrome wire inside the toaster with the metal knife. I make equally certain that I am not using the other hand to turn on/off the kitchen sink's metal faucet located a few feet away. Were I to screw that up I could get a 120 volt wake up that would probably not kill me but would hurt like the dickens. If that circuit is GFCI protected, the odds of a shock being lethal is dramatically reduced.Similarly, if my wife is standing on wet soil in wet shoes while using a hedge trimmer that has faulty insulation, the odds of her being injured is dramatically decreased IF THERE IS a GFCI device somewhere between her and the Grand Coulee Dam's power generators. It's magic. The GFCI detects any GF...meaning "ground fault" and it interrupts the circuit (CI) in roughly fifteen one-thousandths of a second. You get a poke that you'll probably remember but you'll 'live and learn' in all but the rarest of cases. That is an over-simplification but GFCI saves lives.

Christmas Tree Lights Safety
This is a sound, sturdy circuit safety meant for power tools and portable lighting, and thus more safety than needed for Christmas lights. Don't skimp on safety - your family's lives and your house are worth the little extra expense.

Worth the money
We work in the hospitality industry services. Many of our clients are older buildings with outdated electrical systems. One of our ongoing issues was tripping circuit breakers causing problems and loosing time working with Facilities to locate breakers. Since using this product, the problem has vanished.

nice GFCI
Replaced another for use w generator. Prior GFIC tripped w 50' extension but the GFCI was fine w 25 or 100 cords. This one works a bit differently, ie, must be reset on startup, but most important,, it doesn't trip from inductive issues w 50' extension. Does cut out if tested.

Manual reset did not concern me
Nice sturdy product. I wanted short cord and did not want to put in gfi recep. I did not care that it was manual reset. Would not be good if you needed it to stay on when u were away.

Cable is thick
The cable is thick. It works as expected. But it didn't come with a cap for unused plug. I bought one from Temu just in case rain goes in.

Must be reset after a power failure.
This GFCI is manual reset which is desirable in real ground fault circumstance. However in the event of a power failure the unit will not pass power again until it is reset. This is not a desirable feature most circumstances. Like a freezer, pool pump, or aquarium (the fishies won't get air bubbles until you reset) I have not tested it by exposing something to water to see if it works but its UL listed so I hope it will work. I have used other brands of portable GFC's that do not stay off after power failures. It also comes with a warning label for California’s Proposition 65, about cancer causing materials used. (its made in China, so what do you expect!) The packaging states: Trip fault current 4-6 ma. Response time 25 ms. Good choice if you don't mind resetting after a power failure, otherwise get an automatic reset model. Click helpful if you think this info is helpful! Not a "fake" review! I got this because I like to put a fan in my window in summer, I know to take the fan out if it rains, but with this GFCI, I should be protected if I forget to.

Great until it stopped working Updated
This was a great little gfci, but only 2 months it’s been in use and now it constantly trips on its own. And being a manual reset that is very problematic. The slightest power surge trips the circuit, and no other gfci in the home trips so it’s definitely a faulty unit. Was hopping to get it replaced but there is no warranty information and no way to contact the seller.Update:The seller reached out a day after I posted the original review. They did not hesitate to send me a replacement. Asked a few questions as they were shocked the unit was behaving the way it did. Sounds like a one off defective unit. Hopefully the new one lasts.
